THE END OF THE BEGINNING

In 2012, the Texas Wesleyan volleyball team finished the season with an overall record of 19-15, the most wins the Lady Rams recorded since win- ning 32 matches in 2007.The Lady Rams finished fifth in the Red River Athletic Conference standings with a 7-4 record, and advanced to the semifinal match in the RRAC tournament.

TWO MILESTONES COME TO AN END The 2012 campaign ended a nine-year run as a member of the Red River Athletic Conference, and also marked the final season with head coach Christy Clawson at the helm. Clawson departed from Texas Wesleyan as the third winningest volleyball coach in program history with an overall record of 131-120 (.522). Rick Johansen, who coached from 1997-2005, has the second most wins with 188. Becky Hughes leads all Wesleyan coaches in the wins column with 369, after serving as head coach from 1980-1992.Texas Wesleyan posted an overall 106-30 record in conference action during their tenure as a member of the RRAC.

GIVE ME FIVE The Lady Rams cruised through the start of conference play with a five- game winning streak.A 3-0 sweep of Langston prompted the five-game winning stretch, followed by two 3-2 victories over SAGU and Southwest. After two 3-0 sweeps over Bacone and Huston-Tillotson, the Lady Rams were handed their first conference loss of the season against the University of St.Thomas, in a close 3-2 match.

LADY RAMS RECEIVE 10 RRAC POW HONORS Five Lady Rams received Red River Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors during the 2012 season.Angelica Arroyo leads the list after picking up three honors. Lynsay Buell and Katherine Rosenbusch followed Arroyo with two honors apiece, while Stephanie Dominguez and Lauren Hutchinson both received one.

SEVEN SELECTED ALL-CONFERENCE Five Lady Rams were selected to the 2012 Red River Athletic Conference All-Conference Team.Katie Rosenbusch made the first team for the third- consecutive year. Rosenbusch is now the individual record holder for most kills in a match after racking up 38 in a September match with SAGU. Rosenbusch surpassed former Lady Ram Kristen Tuttle, who set the record in 1989 with 32. Rosenbusch’s kill total in the same contest against SAGU helped secure a new team record in total kills in a match. As a team, the Lady Rams posted a total of 134 kills, to jump over the 2004 Lady Rams, who held the record with 89. Lynsay Buell was just one kill shy of sharing the indivdual record with Rosenbush after collecting 37.The 2012 Lady Rams also collected 155 digs in a match against the University of the Southwest to hold the team record for most digs in a match. The previouis record holder was the 2001 team with 142.
