CAPACities SWOT Analysis …………………………………………………………………………………… INTRODUCTION 1 The purpose of this SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis is to present the basic characteristics of the selected pilot regions that were selected in individual Alpine countries by the project partners for the CAPACities project.

In order to simplify the structure of the analyses for individual regions, we have prepared uniform points of departure based on five content areas:

- Settlement and Geographical Issues

- Economic Issues

- Social Issues

- Environmental Issues

- Institutional Issues

As a guideline in preparing the SWOT analyses, we also used the analysis that we prepared for small Alpine towns in the fourth work package of the CAPACities project.

In addition to the basic presentation of an individual pilot region, such an approach enables a comparison between selected pilot regions, thereby contextualizing an individual region within the Alps as a whole.

We hope that our efforts will contribute to the development of the regions included in this research, and thus also to better living conditions for the people residing there.
