News Release December 1, 2020 Outbreaks declared at Aden Bowman and Centennial

The Health Authority (SHA) has declared outbreaks at Aden Bowman Collegiate and Centennial C ollegiate.

The SHA notified the school division about the outbreak declarations today. Communication about the outbreak declaration has been shared with students, staff, and the school communities.

To date, Aden Bowman Collegiate has had five positive COVID-19 cases. The collegiate’s operations will continue at Level 3 with students attending in-person classes on alternate days.

Centennial Collegiate has had 16 positive cases this school year. On Monday, the school division and the SHA decided to move Centennial to online learning for the remainder of the quint ending on December 18. The move to online classes takes effect on Thursday, Dec. 3.

Since the start of the school year, Public Schools has had 96 positive cases at 36 locations in the division

– 35 schools and the board office.

The safety of our students and staff members is our first priority. The safety protocols our schools have put in place are critical to reducing the risk of transmission. Mask requirements, proper hand hygiene, physical distancing when possible, and cohorting classes are all measures our schools have implemented to help protect students and staff members. These measures will significantly reduce the spread of the virus.
