Hello everyone,

Where did that go, September already?

As I write this we are in the middle of August and people are jetting off here and there. Summer certainly is with us and families are making the most of the school holidays. This does however mean we have a short edition of Life this month as I have had a lot less content sent in than normal.

The villages have seen a lot of activity lately with the summer Gala Day, Horticultural Show and other such events. Lets get planning to make next years even better! The St Andrews Church Fete team are on the ball and have already set a date for 2016, now that’s what I call planning!

This months cover photo comes courtesy of our very own Rob Young who’s team won the Gt Staughton Gala Day Quiz in July. Congratulations to all of you, I am sure that champagne went down rather well...

Right, I had better get back to work. See you all in November... This issue was edited by Shaun

Mike and Shirley Mockford have decided after many years to give up distributing Life magazines to the 17 local distributors in Great Staughton. We owe them both a great debt of gratitude they have done this for many years I am not sure exactly how many but it must be nearly 20. Each month they have counted out the magazines and then taken them to the local distributors in Staughton. Thank you so much for your time, efforts and community spirit in doing this. The community is truly grateful.

Youth Club News!

Those of you who have been following the exploits of Great Staughton Youth Club will know that we have gone from a tentative toe in the water to an almighty splash in the community over the past year and hopefully we are here to stay!!!

We started with some fantastic sponsorship from local businesses and community committees who all wanted us to do well and having purchased a variety of wonderful equipment our first meeting in September 2014 was well attended and enjoyed by around 20-25 young people. We have continued to have this number at almost every meeting. As well as our weekly get together at the Village Hall which include leisure, sporting and crafting activities, we have enjoyed a trip to the cinema, archery, swimming and tenpin bowling, not to mention our involvement with the Village Hog Roast and the Family Gala Day. By the way ... A big thank you to everyone who came along and supported the Gala Day and the evening quiz hosted by the Cricket Club.

Special thanks to stall holders and everyone who helped set up and clear away at the end of the day.

We managed to raise some funds and some of these will be distributed between local clubs and charities. Next year.... Will we do it again? .... hopefully yes...... with your help and support. We believe we have secured our place within the village community and only hope that we can go from strength to strength in the future.

Our first meeting of the new Term will be on Thursday 10th September at 7.00pm to 8.30pm and we would love to see some new faces too, if you, or someone you know between 11 and 16, would be interested to come along to give us a try, please email us at [email protected], we will do the rest. If anyone has any skills to offer for an alternative evening’s entertainment, please contact us as variety is what we are all about. Please watch this space for more exciting news and future events!
