SAFEGUARDING POLICY

Parents / Guardians / Carers of all those under the age of 18 and vulnerable adults identified to us who are taking part in the Festival have been sent a copy of the Festival Safeguarding Policy. If you wish to see a copy please ask one of the officials.

The Policy is reviewed regularly and it is revised and enhanced as necessary. In doing this we look to the British & International Federation of Festivals for support and that body, in turn, looks to other agencies for good practice, most notably the NSPCC and Arts Council of policy guidelines

In the last te n years you have donated over £6 000, to numerous Charities including Martin House Hospice , May Lodge residential unit , Action for Children (formerly NCH), The Christine Bro wn Trust for Young Musicians

Thanks to you, last year’s concert raised £700 for Castaway Goole who provide performing, leisure and training opportunities for young peo ple and adults with learning and physical disabilities and autistic spectrum condition

This year we are supporting the FRIENDS OF THE EAST RIDING YOUTH ORCHESTRA who aim to give children, of all backgrounds a chance to experience music making which has a positive influence in many areas of their learning and development.

There is no admission charge, but there will be a retiring collection.

SPECIAL AWARDS presented at the Celebration Concert

Two trophies are awarded to competitors recognised by the adjudicators as “most promising performers” - • in the junior age classes – the Eardley Kemp Trophy; • in the senior age classes – the Fred erick Ingilby Cup. Victor Ludorum Shields are awarded to the most m eritorious performance in each section of the Festival.

The winners of the above trophies also receive a cheque from the Friends of the Festival to help them in their further studies .

Other weekday activities include House Groups, Bible Study, Tuesday Fellowship (for men and women), Church Choir and Film Evenings. The Festival Adult Choir classes have been moved from February to May when we hope to have a warmer venue! Despite the heating going full blast last year it could not overcome the freezing temperatures we faced.
