Democratic process • kicking up dust It's been four months since the President gave his economic address, winning praise from nearly every corner for his ; straight talk on the economy. But over those four months, the Democratic process has kicked up plenty of dust, making it difficult for Kentuckians to see where things stand and where the President and Congress are leading the country. While the debate rages on in Congress, many average folks feel like they've been left behind, unsure where they'll be when the debate is over and the dust finally settles. First and foremost, the goals the President outlined back in February have not changed. Birdsong, Newton to marry on July 3 Mr. Arvin Birdsong of Cadiz is proud to announce the approaching marriage of his daughter, Janice Kay Birdsong of Nashville, to Smith Edwin Newton, also of Nashville. The bride-elect, daughter of Arvin Birdsong and the late Ellen Leon Birdsong, is a graduate of Christian County High School and Murray State University. Her fiance, a native of Christian County, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Newton Jr. of Canton Pike, Hopkinsville. He is a graduate of Christian County High School and the University of Kentucky. An early 1900s-style wedding is planned for 5:30 in the afternoon on July 3, 1993, under the oak trees near the Birdsong cabin on King's Chapel Road in Cadiz. Horse-drawn carriages and 19th century attire worn by the wedding party promise to give the wedding a tum-of-the-century flair. A tent will be provided for an old-fashioned picnic to immediately follow the ceremony. All family and friends are urged to attend. Anyone wearing 1900s-style attire will be greatly appreciated.
