• After the transformer is securely mounted, remove the cover (transformer can be mounted in any orientation). PRIMARY WIRING • Remove knockouts for primary and secondary connections. COMPARTMENT • Route and connect conduit to selected knockouts. • Connect supply wires routed through conduit to the leads in the field-wiring compartment. Supply wiring polarity does not matter. • Connect the equipment GROUND (Green) to the terminal marked “Service Ground” in the primary wiring compartment. SERVICE GROUND NOTE: If metal conduit is used as the electrical ground, care must be taken to make sure the conduit makes a good electrical connection through the paint to the metal can. RETURN SERVICE • For conventional series wiring of the secondary (see diagram on this sheet) route the GTO wires from each neon tubing GROUND electrode through separate conduit and through the selected knockout in the secondary compartment. NEON TUBES

• Strip the GTO so that no more than ¼” of bare wire is visible from secondary terminals. NEON TUBES • Attach the GTO to the secondary terminals and securely tighten the terminals knobs. SECONDARY RETURN • For midpoint return wiring (see diagram on this sheet) the return GTO in conduit must be connected to the terminal CONVENTONAL SERIES WIRING marked “RETURN” in the secondary wiring compartment. THIS WIRING MUST NOT BE CONNECTED TO THE MID POINT RETURN WIRING GROUND. MASONLITE QUICKSILVER™ ELECTRODES with INTEGRAL MERCURY This electrode is a major advance for the Neon Industry. It removes the need for free mercury in the workroom. No ope bottles or spillage. The mercury dose is a guaranteed consistent quantity already encapsulated within the electrode.

The mercury is dispensed into the 1.1 tube after completion of the pumping 1.1 and bombarding process. The tube can be sealed off and removed to the aging table before the mercury is dispensed as this improves productivity. Dispensing can take place when convenient, even many days later. All that is required to release the mercury into the tube is a transformer of at least 50 to 60 mA.

MASONLITE ELECTRODES In order to achieve excellence, all the raw materials used for Masonlite electrodes are of the best quality available in the world. The shells are deep drawn from the ﬁnest quality pure soft iron, and than nickel plated (except 8/15 which are stainless steel) in a custom built dedicated plant. Following plating, the shells are heated to a high temperature in a vacuum chamber to remove any gasses or volatile contaminants which may have been trapped in the metal.
