TULANE’S JONES TO COACH TEAM USA RICE’S RENDON NAMED NCBWA DISTRICT VII Tulane head coach Rick Jones will serve as the head coach of the 2009 Team USA Collegiate National Team. The team will be comprised of the 22 best collegiate PLAYER OF THE YEAR players who are rising sophomores and juniors. It will compete in Japan, Taiwan, the Rice freshman third baseman Anthony Rendon has been named the National Netherlands, have a West Coast U.S. swing, and play at least one game at Greer Field Collegiate Baseball Writers Association District VII Player of the Year, the organization at Turchin Stadium next summer. NOTING C-USA UMPIRES SOUTHERN MISS’ CORKY PALMER TO RETIRE At least one Conference USA umpire has been assigned to the College World Series Southern Miss baseball coach Corky Palmer announced on April 30 that he is retiring each year since 1999. This year, Perry Costello and Darrin Sealey will both be in as head baseball coach, effective at the end of the season Omaha. Palmer, has compiled nearly 450 wins as the top coach for the Southern Miss baseball C-USA umpires in the 2009 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship included: John program over the last 12 seasons and has led the Golden Eagles to seven NCAA Ausmus, John Bennett, Dave Buck, Chuck Busse, Mike Conlin, Chris Coskey, Perry tournament appearances, including a current streak of six straight berths. Five Conference USA schools have ranked among the Top 30 Division I schools in average home attendance during each of the past three seasons. In 2008, four were in the top 16.
