3 LINCOLNSHIRE AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY

The objects of the Lincolnshire Agricultural society are: • To advance, promote and improve agricultural and horticultural industries and associated trades, crafts and professions.

• The advancement of environmental protection and improvement through the encouragement of sustainable management of natural resources.

As a registered Charity the Society pursues these objects through a wide variety of activities, one of these being the annual Lincolnshire Show.

CANCELLATION STATEMENT There may be circumstances where the show has to be postponed, cancelled, abandoned or curtailed as a result of circumstances beyond the control of the Society, for example as a result of a security alert or as a result of inclement weather making it impractical to hold the Show. In such circumstances once any administration fees have been deducted, entry fees will be refunded. The Society will have no liability for loss or damage suffered by exhibitors or others.

Wednesday Evening Exhibitors’ Entertainment Once again, the Society will provide entertainment on the Wednesday evening in the Stockman’s Marquee. Additionally, there will also be entertainment provided in the Member’s Area on Wednesday evening.

4 MEMBERSHIP

On the Livestock booking Form, an opportunity arises for each Member of the Lincolnshire Agricultural society to take advantage of reduced Livestock Entry Fees at the 131st Lincolnshire Show . The cost of Livestock Membership is £53 for a single membership and £80 for a joint membership. Additional benefits of the society include access to the Member Facilities and passes for both days of the Show. Membership may be paid at the top of the Booking Form. 5 IMPORTANT NOTES FOR ALL LIVESTOCK EXHIBITORS

* The EU Welfare of Animals in Transport Regulation (EC) No 1/2005.

All exhibitors must ensure that they comply fully with the current legislation issued by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs regarding the above Transport Regulation which came into force in January 2007 and are able to provide the appropriate documentation at the Show to the relevant governing authority.

For the purposes of this article, mammals shall not be considered fit for transport if they

(a) are unfit animals (see DEFRA website Annex 1 Chapter 1 of Council Regulation 1/2005). (b) are pregnant female animals that have reached the latest stage of gestation (within 10% of the estimated time of the gestation before birth) and for a period of one week after giving birth. (c) are very young animals except if the journey is less than 100 km, eg calves of less than 10 days of age, pigs less than 3 weeks of age and lambs of less than one week. (d) calves of less than 14 days of age on journeys exceeding 8 hours will not be permitted.

The LINCOLNSHIRE AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY will present an award to the STOCK ATTENDANT responsible for the preparation and exhibition of the animal adjudged Breed Supreme Champion in the Cattle, Sheep, and Pig sections.

6 CATTLE

The general condi0ons and regula0ons of the Show also apply to this sec0on.

Reminder for ALL CATTLE Exhibitors from Trading Standards. CATTLE must be tagged in accordance with the Ca4le Iden3fica3on Regula3ons 1998. (Failure to do so may result in the animal being sent home).

CATTLE ENTRIES will be accepted on the following basis: • Each animal may only be entered for one Ca1le Class . However, this animal may then go into a Group Class . All entries are of course eligible for Special and Championship Classes which may be offered. • Subs3tute entries WILL NOT be accepted a$er the closing date for entries.

1. Entries are required to arrive on the Showground by 6 p.m. on Tuesday, 23rd June, and must remain until 5 p.m. on Thursday 25th June. (Exception - Commercial Beef entries to arrive before 4 p.m. Tuesday.) 2. All animals must be accustomed to being tied or haltered and exhibitors will be responsible for presenting them. 3. Where an entry is found to be entered in the wrong class it will be transferred automatically. 4. The Society reserves the right to refuse or cancel any entry or class and will automatically cancel any class in which there are insufficient entries. The Society also reserves the right to restrict entries if numbers exceed those which can be adequately dealt with. 5. Exhibitors entering cattle in more than one breed section must indicate the number of stalls required per breed. All animals belonging to one exhibitor will stand in their respective breed lines. 6. All Commercial Cattle must be housed in the Commercial Cattle Lines. 7. Where cows are entered with a calf at foot the exhibitor is required to book two standings and include the Calf date of birth and ear tag details on the entry form. 8. Due to a limited number of stalls available, please only book a maximum of one kit pen per exhibitor. 9. All cattle must be paraded in accordance with the instructions of the Honorary Director and Stewards. Any Exhibitor not parading some of their cattle in the Grand Parade will forfeit any prize money. Bulls must be paraded with two handlers in the Grand Parade. 10. Nobody under the age of 16 may be in charge of an animal in the Grand Parade. 11. Prizes will be awarded according to the number of entries forward at the time of judging.

The Lincolnshire Show Team Award organised by The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society. This competition which will be judged in the cattle lines, will cover such aspects as presentation and welfare of cattle, cleanliness of lines, marketing and promotion of the herd and the owner’s staff associated with each herd. ALL Pure-Bred Beef, Commercial and Dairy Cattle Exhibitors are eligible. The winners will be announced during the Inter-Breed Competitions at 10.00 hrs. on Thursday.

12 BRITISH BLUE Supported by the British Blue Cattle Society’s Show Incentive Scheme 2015 Judge: Mr S Pattinson CARLISLE All classes will be judged on Wednesday 24th June Conditions. 1. All animals must be entered in the British Blue Cattle Society Herd Book. In accordance with the BBCS request please note that females should not have calved within 12 weeks of the show. 2. The British Blue Cattle Society will offer forward payments to each exhibitor of £25 for the first animal, £10 for the second and £10 for the third animal shown, up to a maximum of £45. 3. Payment is made in the form of a credit to the exhibitor’s Society account, the onus is on the exhibitor to claim to the British Blue Cattle Society. 4. Payment is made following confirmation by the Show Secretary that animals are forward. 5. See Fees and General Conditions at the front of Cattle Section. 6. SUMMARY OF ENTRY PROCEDURE FOR DAIRY CATTLE a) Reserved stalls must be booked not later than Wednesday 29th April 2015. b) No class entry fees will be charged for Breed classes. Entry fees will however be payable for entry into the Exhibitor Bred classes (judged on the second day) at the rate shown below. c) Entry Forms for those animals attending the Show must be completed and despatched so as to arrive at the Society’s Offices no later than 9.00 a.m. on Friday 29th May, 2015. Entry fees for Exhibitor Bred classes should also be forwarded at this stage. d) Exhibitors may only bring the number of animals to the Show for which stalls have been booked. e) No animal likely to calve during the period of the Show may be exhibited. f) The Society will refund the sum of £15.00 in respect of each animal forward for judging at the Show. g) For prize money and General Conditions, go to the front of the Cattle Section.

Please Note: In the event of low exhibitor numbers in any of the dairy breeds or low entries catalogued, classes may be cancelled or amalgamated.

Malpractice: Any artificial contrivance or device of any description found on or proved to have been used on an animal at any time whilst that animal is in the Showground, either for preventing the flow of milk or for any other improper purpose, will disqualify that animal from being awarded a prize, and any prize awarded prior to discovery will be forfeited. The Instigator or The Owner of the said animal may be prohibited from again entering Stock for any of the Society’s Shows, for such period as the Committee may see fit. For the purpose of this Regulation, the term ‘improper practice’ shall be held to include setting of teats, and generally any other practice including tampering or of their own or any other animal by the exhibitor or any other person which results in the animals being shown other than in a natural state, and the Society reserves the right to have all animals inspected by the Society’s Veterinary Officers, either prior to, during, or after judging. The Society will not tolerate the administration to show exhibits of tranquillisers or other drugs which may in any way affect the performance of the animal in question to have the effect of making it behave in the show ring in a manner which is not natural. The Society reserves the right to take any necessary samples. Any Person or

28 Exhibitor (or his representative) who is found to have administered or permitted the administration of any such tranquilliser or drugs to any Show exhibit will be reported to the Organising Committee, and dealt with at their discretion. In addition the matter will be referred to the appropriate Breed Society or Organisation. Any Exhibitor wishing to lodge an objection, having reference to Livestock exhibited at this Show. Please see condition 24 in the regulations at the back of this shedule. If, on investigation, the objection is not sustained to the satisfaction of the Committee, the sum thus deposited shall, at the discretion of the Committee, be forfeited to the funds of the Society. Carcases will be housed in a special National Sheep Association refrigerated display unit with limited capacity, exhibitors will therefore be restricted to TWO entries and on a strict date of receipt of entry. 2. Conditions 1. Each competitor must be registered wool producers. 2. A competitor may enter any number of the classes, but can only submit two fleeces per class. 3. For the purpose of the competition the fleeces must be neatly rolled and submitted in bags. 4. The bag must be labelled by the competitor. Each label must show clearly: Name of Competitor Address of Competitor Class entered Breed or Cross British Wool Marketing Board Registration number ONE LABEL should be placed inside the container; THE OTHER secured on the outside . 5. All exhibits must be delivered to the Steward of the section by 5.30 p.m. on Tuesday 23rd June, or they will be too late for competition. Exhibits should not arrive before 23rd June, and should be removed from the Showground between 4.00 p.m. and 5.00 p.m. on Thursday 25th June. The Society will not be responsible for the safe delivery or keeping of the fleeces. Any fleeces not collected will be taken to CWG depot at Stamford and due payment will be forwarded. 6. If there are fewer than 5 entries for any particular class the number of prizes awarded will be at the judge’s discretion. 7. Fleeces that are artifically stained or artificially coloured or fastened with any form of twine will be eliminated. 8. It is a condition of entry that children should only handle animals where they have the necessary strength and experience to cope with the said animal. Children must always be under the supervision of and accompanied by a competent adult.

All Lambs or Sheep must be halter trained and must have been shown in the breed classes at this Show. Classes will be judged on the Handlers ability. Handlers to be suitably dressed for the breed that they are leading. Entries accepted on the day, no entry fee required. Rosettes to all competitors.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS for ALL Pig Exhibitors (Modern and Traditional Breeds)

1. Pigs to have been registered in a published volume or accepted for entry in a forthcoming volume of the British Pig Association or the Society’s Herd Book. (It is not sufficient for an animal to be “eligible for registration”). Animals registered in a Grading Register of a Herd Book are not eligible for entry in Agricultural Show Classes. The ear number, registered name, Herd Book number and date of birth of each pig, also the name and Herd Book number of sire and dam, must be supplied for printing in the catalogue together with the name of the breeder in cases where the exhibitor is not also the breeder.

Any pig whose ear number cannot be read or whose ear number does not correspond to that in the Show Catalogue will not be allowed to compete in any of the classes.

59 2. At all Shows in 2015, female pigs (all breeds) born before 1st January 2014 shall be eligible to compete only if in the six calendar months prior to the Show they have farrowed, suckled and reared to four weeks of age, a litter of pigs.

3. Female pigs born on or after 1st January 2014 and before 1st July 2014 ( BERKSHIRE, BRITISH LANDRACE, GLOUCESTERSHIRE OLD SPOTS, HAMPSHIRE, LARGE WHITE, , OXFORD SANDY & BLACK and PIETRAIN breeds ONLY), shall have either produced and reared a litter of pigs within six months prior to the show or produced a LIVE litter within twelve weeks of the first day of the Show.

Female pigs of the , DUROC and LARGE BLACK breeds born on or after 1st January 2014 and before 1st March 2014 shall have farrowed and suckled a litter of pigs prior to the Show. Females born on or after 1st March and before 1st July 2014 shall farrow within twelve weeks of the first day of the Show .

Female pigs of the TAMWORTH breed only born on or after 1st January 2014 and before 1st July 2014 shall either have farrowed, suckled and reared a litter prior to the Show or produce a live litter within six weeks of the 1st of July.

Female pigs of the WELSH breed born on or after 1st January 2014 and before 1st March 2014 shall have farrowed and suckled a litter of pigs prior to the Show. Females born on or after 1st March and before 1st July 2014 shall farrow before, or within eight weeks after the first day of the Show.

4. Boars of two years of age and over (all breeds) are to be certified as having sired at least three live litters within the twelve months preceding the date on which entries for the Show close. The pigs comprising such litters are to have been litter notified in the British Pig Association’s Herd Book or proof of their birth must have been given to the Association.

5. Boars aged twelve months or more at the time of exhibition, must have their tusks cut prior to the Show.

6. All boars must be shown by two competent adult handlers who are equipped with protective boards.

7. The use of artificial colouring, whitening and/or powder on pigs as well as the removal or addition of spots by artificial means is prohibited (white woodflour is permitted).

S562, S563 & S564 are Qualifying Heats of the “B.P.A. Pig Of The Year Competition”

1. Qualifying rounds will be arranged at Agricultural Shows, leading to a Final. 2. A condition of entering the competition is that prize winners at preliminary rounds must intend to exhibit at the Final. 3. The award is open to all breeds of pedigree pigs entered in this Show. The object is to determine the best modern and traditional breed pigs as an example of their respective breeds. 4. All animals entered in this Competition must be the property of a member of the British Pig Association or the British Lop Society and must be registered in a Herdbook of the British Pig Association or The British Lop Pig Society. 5. To be eligible for a qualifying round a pig (male or female) must be born on or after 1st July of the year previous to the Show (see 7 below). A pig judged Best Male (Modern or Traditional) or Best Female (Modern or Traditional) in a qualifying round cannot compete in any subsequent round. If a pig having qualified at an earlier show again qualifies at a later show the judge for that breed shall select an alternative pig of the same breed and sex from any class covering the required age group. 6. Where a single breed has more than one class covering the required age group for either sex, so permitting more than one 1st prize animal, the judge must nominate one of these for the qualifying round. 7. Where there are multi-breed classes, i.e. any other modern/any other traditional breed or a similar classification, the judge must nominate the best male and best female of the qualifying age of each breed represented (regardless of class prizes). These pigs will compete in the qualifying round with eligible entries from individual breed classes. 8. At each qualifying round the judge will select the Best Male from a Modern Breed, Best Male from a Traditional Breed, Best Female from a Modern Breed, Best Female from a Traditional Breed, Best Pig and Reserve Best Pig. 9. The Best Males (Modern and Traditional) and Best Females (Modern and Traditional) from each of the qualifying rounds will qualify for the Final to be held at the Great Yorkshire Show. 10. The Final will be to judge the Best Modern Male and Female with Reserves and the Best Traditional Male and Female with Reserves; the Best Pig (i.e. Pig of the Year) and Reserve. 11. In the Final at Great Yorkshire Show the Modern and Traditional Male and Female Champions will each receive £60, Reserve Champions £30. Conditions for Bacon Carcase Competition 1. Entries are restricted to two per exhibitor. Animals must be the bona fide property of Exhibitors and entries will not be accepted from Quality Bacon Associations. Members of such Associations must enter Pigs individually. 2. Pigs accepted for the Competition must be within the kill-out weight of between 60 and 83 kgs. Pigs that are not within the specified weight may be displayed in the Competition Tent but will not be judged in the competition. (Exhibitors attention is particularly drawn to this condition). 3. The Society or the Curers can accept no responsibility for any damage or condemnation, either during transit or after slaughter resulting in any carcase being unable to be cured and thus eliminated from the competition. 4. The following information will be required: (a) Breed/Cross of Pigs and Breed of Sire and Dam. (b) B.P.A. exhibitors are required to give the Ear No. and date of Birth. These details will be requested before the pigs have been despatched to the bacon factory. 5. Pigs will be cured by A. W. Curtis & Sons Ltd., - slaughtering details and date to be confirmed. Of the carcases entered in the Competition up to 20 carcases will be selected for display and judging at the Lincolnshire Show, with discretion to exclude any carcase that would not make satisfactory exhibition bacon. 6. All pigs should be tattooed on producers premises with a tattoo slap mark as usual AND an additional mark on the LEG, FLANK & SHOULDER of BOTH SIDES to ensure that the whole carcase can readily be identified during and after CURING as a COMPETITION ENTRANT. Where TWO pigs are entered from the same producer, do ensure that the extra mark used is pig specific, thank you. (Exhibitors attention is particularly drawn to this condition). 7. All pigs will be purchased through A. W. Curtis & Sons Ltd. at current prices. 8. No entry through Gate 5 will be allowed after Tuesday evening.

5. Livestock Vehicle Passes Exhibitors will be issued with passes to permit their vehicles conveying livestock to enter the Showground, via the BLUE GATE Entrance 5. Each Exhibitor should ensure that he/she receives sufficient vehicle passes to cover his/her requirements. Such vehicles must be parked in the space provided immediately after delivery of the stock and remain there throughout the Show. Livestock Vehicles Exhibitor’s vehicles must be externally clean. The Society has the right to refuse entry to any vehicle deemed not to be clean. No Livestock Vehicles will be permitted to remain within the Showground area once stock has been off loaded. Once vehicles have been cleansed and disinfected they will be directed to a special parking area and will be required to remain parked there until 5.00 p.m. on Thursday, 25th June. This parking area is situated within easy reach of the Cattle Lines and those stock attendants using wagons for accommodation during the Show will not be inconvenienced in attending to their stock.

6. Arrival & Departure (via Gate 5, BLUE GATE) Livestock to arrive on the Showground by 6 p.m. on Tuesday 23rd June, and must remain until 5 p.m. on Thursday 25th June. Exceptions: Commercial Beef and Commercial Lambs to arrive before 4 p.m. on Tuesday 23rd June (Cows and Heifers in milk must be stripped dry on the Showground after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, 23rd June.) A.M.L. Forms (Animal Movement Licence Forms) to be handed in on arrival at the inner showground gate, Blue Gate Entrance, administered by Trading Standards. Departure A.M.L. Forms to be collected by

74 Trading Standards on Thursday 25th June (or handed in to the Livestock Registration Office at the end of the Main Cattle lines) All cattle to be accompanied to and from Show by their Cattle Passport. (Stewards to collect on Tuesday and return prior to departure on Thursday). The information will be scanned and sent to B.C.M.S.

7. Straw & Fodder The Society will supply a limited quantity of straw. ALL FODDER must be provided by the Exhibitor.

8. Livestock Accommodation Covered accommodation will be provided for all Livestock. Exhibitors must keep the livestock lines clean and tidy (free from faeces) at all times.

9. Cleansing and Disinfecting There are cleansing and disinfecting facilities for interior of vehicles on the Showground.

10. Caravans There will be a special area set aside on the Showground for the accommodation of the caravans belonging to Stock Exhibitors, which will be as close as possible to the Livestock Lines. The charge for the Show period will be £25.00 (incl. VAT). As only limited space will be available, bookings will be accepted strictly on a first come first served basis. Failure to apply for the appropriate pass will result in the caravan being admitted (upon payment of £40.80) at the discretion of the Stewards, for the duration of the Show. GENERATORS - The use of generators to provide power to caravans is banned between the hours of 11.00p.m. and 5.00 a.m. in the interests of the comfort and convenience of all exhibitors.

11. Stock Attendant’s Clothing Any person tending animals or handling animal products must wear suitable footwear and protective outer clothing which can be cleansed and disinfected.

12. Dogs Dogs must be kept on non-retractable leads at all times while on the Showground.

14. Ownership Every exhibit must be the bona-fide property of the Exhibitor at the time of entry. Every animal at the Show must be exhibited in the name of the person who entered it and whose name appears in the Catalogue.This does not prevent an animal being sold after entry provided it is exhibited in the name of the person who entered it.

75 15. Membership Advantage (Lincolnshire Agricultural Society) Exhibitors (and therefore Owners) who are not members of the Society will be required to pay entry fees at non-members rates. Non-members wishing to become members of the Society may do so by paying the current year’s subscription and may then submit entries at Member Rates. No member being in arrears with his/her subscription may make entries at the Show or exhibit as a non-subscriber. Any entry inadvertently accepted from a Member who is in arrears with his/her subscription may be cancelled and the fee paid returned. Membership must be held in the Owners Name, and at the Owners Address. Membership Advantage can not be used in the name of a spouse, relative or other related party. 16. Veterinary Inspection Animals entered for exhibition may be subjected to Veterinary inspection by the Society’s Veterinary Surgeon. The Veterinary Surgeons shall be empowered to expel from the Showground any animal, which in their opinion is suffering from or affected with any contagious or infectious disease likely to prove harmful to other animals, or, any animal which in their opinion is unfit for exhibition. The Veterinary Surgeons shall issue a certificate recording their findings. The Society reserves the right, of its Stewards and appointed Veterinary Surgeon, to take blood samples at random, for subsequent analysis, from any animal exhibited at the Show. Exhibitors shall be liable to pay the Society a sum not exceeding £50 as and for liquidating damages, in respect of each animal expelled under the above clauses. 17. Veterinary emergency treatment It is a condition of Entry that the Society’s Veterinary officers may on their own authority give to any animal such emergency treatment as they may consider appropriate in the event that the owner or his/her representative cannot immediately be found.

18. Veterinary charges Should Veterinary treatment be required at Show, a charge may be made by the Society’s Veterinary Officers attending the animal(s).

19. Parades It shall be a condition of entry that all prize winning cattle shall be exhibited or paraded in accordance with the instructions of the Honorary Director and Stewards and at the times stated in the official programme. An Exhibitor or his servants failing to comply with this regulation shall forfeit all prize money. The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society is very proud of the Grand Parade , with all sections parading their 1st and 2nd exhibits. In addition, ALL Exhibitors are requested to parade, if not, prize money may be deducted. All Handlers are required to wear smart dress and white smocks for parades, excepting Dairy exhibitors who must wear white attire. 20. Cloths or Rugs The erection of sheeting in the Cattle buildings, whether round cattle or spare stalls is strictly prohibited.

21. Awards The judges may withhold any prize or prizes if in their opinion the exhibits in any Class do not possess sufficient merit. Prize money vouchers are to be redeemed on the day of Show. The LAS accepts no liability for lost prize money vouchers.

76 22. Challenge Trophies All Challenge Trophies and Cups offered shall be held by the Winner for one year or until requested to return the same to the Society or the Society’s appointed agents. The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society does not engrave trophies. It is the winner’s responsibility to engrave a trophy should they wish to. Please use a font type and size consistent with any precident set.

23. Malpractice An Exhibitor who shall attempt to obtain a prize by means of a false declaration or by any unlawful prohibited or unfair means shall have all awards made to him/her cancelled, and shall be disqualified from exhibition at future Shows of the Society.

24. Protests Any protest must be lodged in writing within two hours of the completion of judging of the relevant breed, together with a deposit of £50 and handed in to the Show Secretary’s Office. If on investigation the protest is not sustained to the satisfaction of the Honorary Show Director and Stewards of the Section concerned or if the said protest shall prove to be frivolous the person so protesting shall forfeit his/her deposit.

25. Observance of Regulations COMPLIANCE WITH GOVERNMENT AND LOCAL AUTHORITY REGULATIONS AND ALL CODES OF PRACTICE. All Shows, Exhibitions and Events organised by the Society on the Showground or elsewhere are subject to any relevant Orders issued by Government Departments and Local Authorities, and all Codes of practice, with which all exhibitors and others attending such Shows, Exhibitions must comply. For example: Health & Safety Regulations at Agricultural Shows. Health & Safety Executive Guidance Note GS36: Safe Custody and Handling of Bulls at agricultural shows, markets and similar premises off the farm.

26. Liability a) The Society and its officers shall not be responsible for any person whatsoever while upon the Society’s premises, or while entering and leaving the same, for any damage or loss however caused to the property of any such person or for any injury, fatal or otherwise, to any such person. b) The Society and its officers shall not be responsible for any accident, damage or loss however caused that may occur to any exhibitor or his servant or to any animal, article, or property exhibited or brought onto the Showground by him. Each exhibitor shall indemnify the Society from and against all actions, suits expenses or claims on account of or in respect of any such damage or injury however caused. c) The Society will not under any circumstance accept liability for any loss or damage (whether direct or indirect) arising from or caused by the abandonment or cancellation, whether total or partial, or the postponement of any show, display, event, meeting or other happening on the Showground or elsewhere for whatever reason. d) The Society reserves the right to postpone, cancel, abandon or curtail any show, display, event, meeting, happening or otherwise to be held on the Showground or elsewhere if under the auspices of the Society. Where the decision to postpone, cancel abandon or curtail any show, display, event, meeting, happening or otherwise

77 arises from directives, happenings outside the control of the Society, the Society will refund entry fees, once any administration fees have been deducted. The Society will not be under any liability for any loss or damage (whether direct or indirect, consequential or otherwise) arising from or caused by a postponement, cancellation, abandonment, curtailment or otherwise. EXHIBITORS ARE REQUIRED TO ARRANGE APPROPRIATE INSURANCE COVER.

27. Health & Safety a) It is the responsibility of all exhibitors to comply with any Health and Safety requirements placed on them whilst competing at the Show. b) In the case of led cattle/sheep/pigs it is imperative that exhibitors/stockpersons are aware of their obligation to the safety of the general public at all times whilst on the Showground and observe orders from Officials or Stewards, in respect of crossing points etc. The Cattle lines will be open to the general public at certain times, these times will be stated at the entrance to the Cattle lines, at the Show. c) Nobody under the age of 16 may be in charge of an animal in the Grand Parade. d) Any exhibitor who fails to comply with health and safety or fire safety legislation may be liable to enforcement action by the West Lindsey District Council Environmental Health Officer and/or the Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Fire Safety Officer.

CATTLE 28. Cattle Health All Cattle exhibited must be from herds which are free of Tuberculosis, Brucellosis and EBL and which are not under movement restrictions imposed by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for these or any other notifiable diseases.

29. Abortions and Premature calvings No animal likely to calve during the period of the Show may be exhibited. Animals which calve, or show evidence of calving, whilst at the showground, must be placed in the approved isolation accommodation pending their possible early removal from the showground. Where an animal calves prematurely, or aborts, the DVM, DEFRA must be informed immediately. The animal must be placed in isolation in the approved accommodation, and the full range of samples (including if at all possible a placental smear) should be taken. The animal will not be allowed to take part further in the show and once it is fit to travel, can be returned home to the registered premises or alternatively retained until the end of the show in isolation and returned with the other competing cattle from the same premises. All other bovine animals from the same registered premises will not be allowed to compete further in the Show until negative results from certain tests carried out by a Veterinary Laboratory Centre have been received. They can be returned with the suspect animal at the completion of the Show.

78 30. Registration All cattle must be entered or registered for entry in the Herd Book, Appendix to the herd Book, or supplementary Register of their respective breed Society or Association, in accordance with the conditions of entry, for each breed shown beneath the respective Breed headings.

31. Definition of a Heifer For the purpose of this Schedule a heifer is a female, which has not calved or aborted more than once, nor calved and aborted. (Except the class for a team of three in the Inter-Breed beef competition - maiden heifer.)

32. Faking Cattle found to be artificially coloured or in any way faked at any time whilst on the Showground shall be disqualified.

33. Nurse Cows No accommodation will be provided for Nurse Cows which will not be permitted to enter the Showground.

34. Milking Out The Judges may at their discretion order that all or any of the cows or heifers be milked-out in the Judging Ring before awarding prizes.

35. Milk Dairy exhibitors are responsible for keeping the milking area clean. Owing to escalating costs with the disposal of raw milk, there is no Milk Payment.

36. Transfer to appropriate Class. Cows and heifers entered as in-calf and having calved or entered as in-milk and not having calved before the Show may be transferred to the appropriate class if provided.

37. Qualifying Yields In classes where qualifying yields are required, Exhibitors should forward a copy of the relevant Lactation Record with their Entry Form.

38. Refund of Entries Stalls booked may be cancelled and half the relevant fees refunded, if WRITTEN notification is received before 5 p.m. on FRIDAY, 15th May, 2015.

39. Prizes Championships and Special Prizes given by the Breed Societies may only be awarded to members of those Societies.

40. Inspections All entries and property of participants are subject to inspection by LAS Officials. Paricipants shall deliver on request, to an LAS Official, any device, material or substance on the possession or control of the Participant, agent, or persons acting on his or her behalf for the purpose of inspection ot laboratory analysis.

79 41. Administration of Substances Permission must be gained from one of the LAS Appointed Veterinary Surgeons before administering any drug to an Animal. In such cases Participants will be required to notify an LAS Official of the animals identification number, the drugs name, the volume of the drug administered, the batch number and expirey date, the person who administered the drug and the date and time of administration.

42. Penalties for Enforcement If the LAS finds a participant to have violated the above rules or been guilty of Malpractice, the LAS has the power to disqualify participants from the Lincolnshire Show and from future Shows. Prize Money from the Show may also be forfeit. Penalties for violation are at the absolute discretion of the LAS, and the decision of the LAS is final.

SHEEP 43. Accommodation Covered accommodation will be provided for all sheep. All animals in the same Breed belonging to one Exhibitor will stand together. Exhibitors or Maedi-Visna Accredited Sheep must indicate their status on the Booking Form, a copy of the appropriate certificate should be sent with entries and an original Green Certificate to be presented upon arrival at the Show. Signs will be erected indicating the unloading points for both Maedi-Visna and Non-scheme sheep. Exhibitors of Maedi-Visna sheep must ensure that their animals are accompanied by the Green S.A.C. Certificate of Status (with valid expiry date). Unloading of Maedi-Visna sheep must not take place until the appropriate certificate is produced for inspection by the responsible Society official. At all times during the Show it is essential that there should be no contact between any sheep in the two categories.

44. Scrapie The Lincolnshire Show is a DEFRA approved Scrapie monitored event. Scrapie monitored stock may be exhibited without loss of Scrapie monitored status. Exhibitors are required to sign a Declaration that female sheep entered and exhibited are nonpregnant and have not lambed or aborted within 30 days of their arrival at the Show and are not subject to procedures which change the seasonal breeding pattern.

45. Flock Book Entry All sheep entered in the Breed classes must be from flocks registered in the Flock Book of their Breed and shall be marked and/or shorn in accordance with the rules of their respective Breed Societies.

46. Faking Any sheep found to have been artificially coloured or faked with a view to deceiving the judges will be disqualified.

47. Ewes Nursing ewes are not eligible for entry.

80 48. External Parasites The prevention/control of external parasites on sheep being brought to the Showground must be undertaken in accordance with any DEFRA regulations at the time of Show.

49. Short-tail docking of Lambs The attention of exhibitors is drawn to the Welfare of livestock (prohibited operations) Regulations 1982 and the requirement that tail docked sheep should retain sufficient tail to cover the anus in the case of males and the vulva in the case of females.

PIGS 50. Entries Exhibitors’ entries will be accepted on the following basis. Payment will be per pig and per pen (approx. 6’ x 6’ space). A maximum of 2 pigs are allowed per pen.

51. Registration All pigs entered in the Breed classes must be entered or accepted for entry in the herd book (as distinct from grading register) of their respective Breeds, and shall be ear-marked in accordance with the rules of the Breed.

52. Accommodation Covered accommodation will be provided for all pigs. Each pig must be placed in the pen provided and may not be moved without the Steward’s permission. All animals belonging to one exhibitor will stand in adjacent pens in their respective Breed Sections.

53. Dentition All Pigs exhibited may be subjected to an examination of their mouths by the Veterinary Inspector of the Society and should the state of dentition upon such examination indicate that the age of any Animal as stated on the Entry Form, does not agree with the accepted rules of Dentition, the Stewards shall have power to disqualify such pigs, and shall report the circumstances to the Council. The following is the state of Dentition of pigs which will be considered as indicating that they exceed the ages specified:- 6 MONTHS - Pigs having their corner permanent incisors cut, will be considered as exceeding this age. 9 MONTHS - Pigs having their permanent tusks more than half up will be considered as exceeding this age. 12 MONTHS - Pigs having their central permanent incisors up and any of the three first permanent molars cut will be considered as exceeding this age. 15 MONTHS - Pigs having their lateral temporary incisors shed and the permanents appearing will be considered as exceeding this age. 18 MONTHS - Pigs having their lateral permanent incisors fully up will be considered as exceeding the age.

54. Faking The use of artificial colouring, whitening and/or powder, the removal of hair, surplus teats or the removal or addition of spots by artificial means, or any other abnormal practice on pigs is prohibited.

81 55. Boars a) Boars of two years of age and over to be certified to have sired at least three live litters within the twelve months preceding the date on which entries for the Show close, the pigs comprising such litters to have been notified for registration in the Herd Book or proof of their birth to have been given to the B.P.A. b) Boars will not be allowed in the Judging Rings unless the accompanying stockperson carries a protective shield supplied by the exhibitor. c) Boars exceeding 15 months of age must have had their tusks cut in the year of and prior to exhibition at the Show; they must also be accompanied in the Show Ring by TWO competent handlers, each carrying a protective board. Exhibitors failing to comply with these handling requirements may be disqualified by the Chief Steward.

56. Prizes Special and Championship prizes given by the B.P.A. will only be awarded to members of that Association or to Members of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust who record the relevant breeds with the B.P.A.
