Instructions for Holy Week Services
Palm Sunday – Change hangings to Holy Week Red. Set up as usual for both 8am and 10am services. Also change Stations of the cross votive cups to red. You will find aquarium gravel in the cups. Pour it from the purple ones into the red ones and place tea light on top. If needed, tea lights are in the closet where extra bread and baptismal candles are kept. * Maunday Thursday – 7:30 pm Set Up - Set up the same as 10 am service with wafers in box and of wine in large cruet. Remove candles from Altar of Repose and place in the sacristy. Replace with Crown of Thorn Candles and place an open corporal on the Altar of Repose.
Take down as usual, reserve sacraments will be removed by clergy and placed on the altar of repose. * Good Friday 7:30 pm Set Up – Place a corporal inside the Red Burse that is on the Altar of Repose and prop it up in front of flowers with the open side up. Place on credence table – Empty bread box, both chalices, w/purificators & a pall and a small cruet with water. Place one alms basin on table in narthex. * Easter Vigil 7:30 pm Set Up – Set up is same as 10 am service placing only 100 wafers in bread box and one inch of wine in large cruet. Place new Pascal Candle in stand with 4 red nail studs at base of candle. Prepare 100 vigils candles. * Easter Sunday 9 am Set Up – Will be a reset after Vigil the same as a 10am service. Fill small bread box to capacity. Fill large cruet to bottom of cross, unless there is a great amount of reserve wine then lessen the wine. * Easter reset for 11 am – Place 250 wafers in large bread plate and fill wine cruet about an inch above the bottom of the cross depending upon amount of reserve wine. Place second bread plate on credence table with second chalice and cruet of water. Place “boat” on far left of credence table. 7/2010
