In a country setting 10 minutes from downtown Jasper is a rustic restaurant where chef Kami Cochrane showcases colourful meals (including vegan specialties) from fresh local ingredients. Everything is made from scratch; culinary expertise is reflected in every dish. The creative desserts are visually stunning. ATMOSPHERE The warm oak and fir décor with big stone fireplace is distinctly Canad­ian. While the cuisine is gourmet, the inviting atmosphere is ‘casually elegant’. Award-winning Walter’s Dining Room is named after Sawridge Inn and Con- ference Centre founder Chief Walter Twinn of the Sawridge First Nation. The atrium has lots of greenery and a three-storey cedar clad fireplace. A diverse menu reflects western Canada and its Native heritage. Dishes include fish, meat and game accompanied by organic produce from farms within 100 kms of Jasper. ATMOSPHERE Dinner at Walter’s is a leisurely affair. For more casual dining try Hearthstone Lounge with rock fireplace and hand built log furniture, or Champs Sports Lounge with TVs, pool tables and dart board. The function rooms host up to 300 people.

For over 60 years, Tekarra Restaurant has pleased locals, visitors and celebrities like Marilyn Monroe and John Travolta. The culinary team delivers regional Canadian specialties with interesting twists and upscale presentations. The focus is on quality comfort food from fresh, local ingredients like Alberta bison, wild boar, free range chicken and Arctic char. Appetizers like baked brie and the charcuterie platter are great for sharing. Functions are accommodated. ATMOSPHERE This unpretentious cabin in the woods is surrounded by towering pines. This is a gracious venue to enjoy a classic cocktail or locally brewed beer. Families are welcome, and children can order from their own menu. Chef/owner Gopala Shelke takes a hands-on approach to his business; watch him expertly prepare the authentic dishes of his home country in the open-to-view kitchen equipped with a tandoor clay oven. Gopala was educated to be a chef at a culinary arts school in Mumbai. Before opening his own restaurant, he honed his craft at Taj President Hotels in India and locally at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. His natural, healthy cuisine is made without food colouring or MSG and relies on spices such as fresh garlic and ginger, chilies, fenugreek and cardamom. Curries are Gopala’s specialty. Alex and Helen Balomenos left their coastal Greek town of Arta to work at Something Else, and they realized their dream when they purchased the restau- rant in 1996.
