Research Project: Worked as a Senior Researcher in the project “Urbanization-Migration Nexus” from June, 2014 to March, 2015 initiated by LSE (London School of ) and sponsored by DFID (Department for International Development). The project was implemented in five countries of South Asia-Bangladesh, India, , Nepal and Afghanistan-and tried to investigate how investment in urban construction and its concurrent demand for labour give rise to new and varied temporal forms of rural-urban migration.

Duties and Responsibilities: Supervised Research Associates and Research Assistants who work in the field, wrote reports and coordinated with the Country Director, Bangladesh chapter.

Assistant Chief November, 2008- April, 2010 Planning Commission, Government of the peoples' Republic of Bangladesh. Duties and Responsibilities: Performed the duties and responsibilities as a desk officer. Reviewed Development Project Proposal (DPP) and Technical Project Proposal (TPP), prepared resolutions of pre-PEC (Project Evaluation Committee) and PEC meeting. Prepared project summary for planning minister, prepared working paper and presentation slides for ECNEC (Executive Committee on National Economic Council) meeting, prepared project demands for ADP (Annual Development Project) and RADP (Revised Annual Development Project), prepared project demands for national budget, prepared parts of speech for finance.

Research Officer and Senior Research Officer February, 2007-August, 2008 and September, 2008 to December, 2008 PIDVS (Programs on Infectious Disease and Vaccine Sciences) in HSID (Health System and Infectious Disease Division), ICDDR, B (International Centre for Diarrheal Disease Research, Bangladesh), Mohakhali, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Duties and Responsibilities: Involved in in-depth interview, observation, social mapping, mobility mapping, writing observation report, transcription, coding, analyzing and writing the draft report of the project “Pig Raising and Human Contact in Bangladesh”.

Involved in the project “Surveillance for hospital acquired respiratory illness in public tertiary care facilities in Bangladesh”. Here I was involved in qualitative data collection like hospital mapping, transcription, observation and writing observation report.

Involved in in-depth interview, transcription, coding and analyzing the data of the project “Date Palm Sap collection: Exploring Opportunities to Prevent Nipah Transmission”.

Participated in outbreak investigation of “Mass Psychogenic Illness” in community, school and hospital settings in Norsingdi, Nobabgonj and Noakhali districts. Here I was involved in the collection of both qualitative (in-depth interview, school mapping, FGD) and quantitative data (filling up structured questionnaire) and writing qualitative report.

Participated in outbreak investigation of “Unknown Disease” in Companygonj and Goainghat, Sylhet. Here I collected data by using structured questionnaire.

Field Research Officer April, 2004-March, 2005 Public Health Sciences Division (PHSD), ICDDR, B, Mohakhali, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Duties and Responsibilities:  Worked in the project “Community Based Intervention to Reduce Childhood Drowning in Bangladesh”  Helped develop field materials (checklist for open ended interview, guideline for FGD)  Conducted in-depth interview and FGD with the respondents.  Did mapping exercises including free listing, severity rating, pile sorting and paired comparisons.  Transcribed and translated in-depth interviews and FGDs, coded and analyzed the data and prepared the preliminary report.

Field Administrator April, 2003- January, 2004. Centre for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS). The study was sponsored by UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund) and DPHE (Department of Public Health Engineering), Bangladesh.

Duties and Responsibilities:  Worked in the project “Perceptions of Hygiene.”  Overall responsibility was to supervise field units during fieldwork.  Prepared an annotated bibliography of the relevant literatures.  Helped develop field materials (census, questionnaire, checklist etc).  Conducted fieldwork in the CHT (Chittagong Hill Tract) and plain lands.  Provided financial management and all kinds of logistic support to the field units.  Day to day reporting of the activities and progress of each field research.  Arranged and organized data/ field materials from the field.  Analyzed the data and helped write the final report.

Research Associate August, 2001- August, 2002. Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha (Association for progress of women in Bangladesh, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Major responsibilities:  Worked in the project “Greater participation of Women in Politics in Bangladesh.”  Reviewed relevant literatures.  Helped prepare checklist for in-depth interview.  Conducted in-depth interview and case study.  Transcribed all the interviews.  Analyzed the data and helped report writing.

Extra Curricular Activities:  Was a member of BNCC (Bangladesh National Cadet Corps) naval wing, Dhaka University contingent and participated in different welfare activities on important national days and during natural disaster.

Awards, prizes and Scholarship:  Obtained merit scholarships in Secondary School Certificate (SSC), Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honors and in M. Phil.

Country Visited:  Visited Australia from January 10 to January 19, 2010 when I was working in Planning Commission, Government of the peoples' Republic of Bangladesh. It was a study tour organized by UNDP. I along with an interministrial team visited five provinces-Cairns, Horns’ Islands, Brisbane, Canberra and Sydney in Australia. The objective of the tour was to learn about the policies of Australian government for the development of indigenous people and make policies accordingly for the development of indigenous people in Bangladesh.

 Visited Estonia and stayed for two months from 20 January, 2015 to 18 March, 2015. I went to Estonia via Istanbul, Turkey and Helsinki, Finland.

 Visited Sweden, Denmark and Estonia from 19 May to 20 July, 2015.
