Race Results 2017 // St. George Marathon RACE RESULTS //www.stgeorgemarathon.com #likenoother THANKS for joining us! Photo by Richard Isom, Vive Studio, Inc. Dear Participants, Volunteers, Sponsors, and Friends: We want to take a minute and thank you for helping make the 2017 St. George Marathon one of the best ever. It takes a huge effort by many people to bring to pass a successful Marathon like this. A full year of planning, weeks of preparation, all leading to a few hours of intense competi- tion. Competition with others and especially an intense personal competition to achieve your goals with the race. This years winners are Aaron D. Fletcher from Lindon, Utah at 2:14:44 (a new course record!) and Nicole D. Lyons from Meridian, Idaho at 2:41:15. Our Masters winners are Iain Hunter from Provo, Utah at 2:22:31 and Rosy Lee from Mountain Green, Utah at 2:42:26. This year we added 90 family members to our Ten Year Club. We now have more than 1,444 mem- bers in our family that have ran the Marathon at least 10 years. Many of you have run for 15, 20, 30, and even 40 years! We do relish our relationship with each and every one of you. We look forward to representing St. George with our winners in Ibigawa Japan. This relation- ship has been on going for 30 years now. It is a unique “sister marathon” partnership that helps strengthen our cultural and civic ties with each other. Without the dedication and willingness of the St. George community and especially our staff we would not be able to hold the Marathon. This means a lot to our community to be able to hold one of the best marathons in the nation and showcase the natural beauty of the area, but also the warm and friendly personality of the community. May this next year of running be your best, and that you can realize all of your personal goals. • Outdoor Track and Field DIVISION I
DIVISION I 103 Outdoor Track and Field DIVISION I 2001 Championships OUTDOOR TRACK Highlights Volunteers Are Victorious: Tennessee used a strong performance from its sprinters to edge TCU by a point May 30-June 2 at Oregon. The Volunteers earned their third title with 50 points, as the championship-clinching point was scored by the 1,600-meter relay team in the final event of the meet. Knowing it only had to finish the event to secure the point to break the tie with TCU, Tennessee’s unit passed the baton careful- ly and placed eighth. Justin Gatlin played the key role in getting Tennessee into position to win by capturing the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Gatlin was the meet’s only individual double winner. Sean Lambert supported Gatlin’s effort by finishing fourth in the 100. His position was another important factor in Tennessee’s victory, as he placed just ahead of a pair of TCU competitors. Gatlin and Lambert composed half of the Volunteers’ 400-meter relay team that was second. TCU was led by Darvis Patton, who was third in the 200, fourth in the long jump and sixth in the 100. He also was a member of the Horned Frogs’ victorious 400-meter relay team. TEAM STANDINGS 1. Tennessee ..................... 50 Colorado St. ................. 10 Missouri........................ 4 2.
