In an endeavour to develop a reading culture, the City of Tshwane's Photo: Guli Segatlhe libraries have started reading clubs in 14 libraries, namely those in Mamelodi West, , VT Sefora, Temba, Rethabiseng, Ekangala Section F, Hercules, E'skia Mphahlele, Irene, Olievenhoutbosch, Waverly, Stanza Bopape and Glenstantia.

The reading clubs are grouped according to age and they accommodate children from the age of five, teens and adults. Various topics, stories and books are read and discussed in any of the 11 official languages, based on the needs of the reading clubs. The reading clubs meet once a week or once a month. Membership of these reading clubs is free of charge.
