LAST WEEK

LAST MEETING - October 11, 2019 – Congressman Dave Loebsack

Sixty -four attended on Friday with several guests present. Duncan Cameron from Naples, FL Rotary, Lucas Dengler guest of Josie Seymour, Jimmy Holt guest of Brad Burt, Dwayne Anderson guest of Rev. Rich Pokora and North Scott Students Emma Hughes and Kylie McCane. Josie Seymour announced that the Shoptoberfest 50/50 drawing in LeCLaire netted $502 for the club. Jeremy Kaiser thanked all the helpers at the Harvest Party on Wednesday. Attending were 240 students from 9 agencies, with 26 volunteers from North Scott Rotary and 14 volunteers from Davenport Rotary. It was a beautiful day at the Pride of the Wapsi. John Maxwell auctioned off the goodies for the week. A peach pie baked by Linda Paustain was purchased by Chris Connolly for $150. Pat DeLuca purchased the Scotchie bars made by Dennis Peterson for $125. Kelly Meyer was the sergeant and collected $51 in fines.

Dave Loebsack was glad to be back at NSR. He will have completed seven terms and will be 68 years old when he finishes his term in 2020. He was glad to NOT be asking for votes or money. Two big items that Dave continues to work on is Veterans issues and the need for good maps and broad band in rural Iowa. He also is working on the drug price bill. Dave said that he remains optimistic about the Trump impeachment issue. Nothing fun or gleeful is going on, it is a sad time for the country. Dave taught at a college for 24 years, will have served in congress for 14 years and intends to do something after retirement. He is just not sure what.
