WCSX Stone Soup Project 1970 Firebird

Detroit, (March 7, 2014): 94.7 WCSX is proud to announce the return of the WCSX Stone Soup Project™. It’s been 2 years since they built their last car and they are excited to bring the program back!

WCSX’s Stone Soup Project™ was inspired by the old stone soup fable wherein everyone throws something in the pot to make a great meal. The WCSX Stone Soup Project™ harnesses the generosity and ingenuity of WCSX listeners from around the Detroit area to rebuild a classic car from the ground up in order to raise money for a local charity. Over the years, 94.7 WCSX raised in excess of $1.2 million dollars for charities in .

94.7 WCSX listeners opened their garages and offered to donate their cars to the Stone Soup Project™. The five cars were posted on WCSX.com for listeners to vote for the one they would like to see get restored into a one-of-a-kind classic car.

94.7 WCSX morning show, Jim O’Brien and Trudi Daniels, unveiled a 1970 Pontiac Firebird at Autorama at Cobo Hall.

Gilbert Bunch of Livonia loved the Stone Soup Project and bought tickets for the raffle every year. His own pride and joy was a 1970 Firebird that he was working on in his garage.

Gilbert passed away in December of a heart attack, and his family reached out to WCSX to offer up the car for this year’s project. Morning Show Co-Host, Jim O’Brien said, “It will be an honor to turn this car into an incredible show car, while raising money for Holy Cross Children’s Services in Detroit.”

Holy Cross Children’s Services will benefit from the proceeds of the Stone Soup Project™ and will be on-site selling raffle tickets at Autorama all weekend. Raffle tickets are $10 each. You can also purchase them on-line at www.WCSX.com.

If you or your organization would like to donate time, money or resources to the Stone Soup Project™, e-mail [email protected] or call WCSX at 313-298-9279. Everyone is invited to follow the progress of the project by attending any of the WCSX Stone Soup Project™ meetings or visiting the WCSX web site at www.wcsx.com.

Stone Soup Project could not be possible without the help from Advanced Auto Parts, Discount Tire, BASF, Ice Nine Group, D&S Engine, Monihan’s Towing and the many volunteers who donate their time to the project.
