DAY 3 PREVIEW: There are four singles and five doubles matches slated for Wednesday’s schedule at the Delray Beach Open, with Americans playing in four of the five matches on Stadium Court. No.6 seed , the top-ranked American in the draw, features in the first singles match of the day against Germany’s , who got the better of the 26-year-old on their previous encounter in Washington back in 2012. Johnson saved a match point to edge out ’s in a third-set tiebreak to reach the second round.

In the second American success story against Australian opposition on Tuesday, hit 14 aces and saved all three break points he faced as he stunned No. 2 seed in the first round 7-6(3) 6-1. The 31-year-old will take on ’s for a chance to face the winner of the Johnson-Becker showdown.

With three of the top four seeds upset in the first round, debutant is the highest-ranked player left in the draw. The No. 4 seed, playing his first event since reaching the 3R at the (l. to Federer), faces Damir Dzumhur – another tournament first-timer – after the Bosnian avenged his Memphis defeat b iy Ricardas Berankis in the first round.
