In Cooperation with the American Quarter Association & the National Reining Horse Association Working in partnership with the United States Para-Equestrian Association (USPEA), USA Reining is very proud to introduce Para-Reining to the western horse sport industry. Together with our founding partners, the Association and the National Reining Horse Association, and under the governance of the United States Equestrian Federation, USA Reining takes this first important step in the introduction of the discipline of Reining into the Para-Equestrian industry.

Interested athletes, spectators or those who are looking to educate themselves or become more actively involved are encouraged to attend these introductory sessions, including am educational clinic and the first ever Para-Reining class. The event will be held concurrently with the AQHA World Championship Show, offering much attraction and attention to the effort.

Those considering attendance should review the information below and contact USA Reining for more information, if needed. Otherwise, entries are accepted by e-mail to the information provided.

Inaugural Para-Reining Demonstration Class Presented by USA Reining and USPEA With the support and cooperation of AQHA and NRHA Friday, November 15th Immediately Following the FEI Concours de Reining International Performance Area USA Reining/USPEA Para-Reining Patterns

Level 1: Walk-Trot Only Beginning at the center of the arena facing the left wall or fence: 1. At a trot, begin a large circle to the right and followed small circle, change direction in the middle of the arena 2. At a trot, begin a large circle to the left and followed small circle, change direction in the middle of the arena 3. Trot to end of the arena past the end marker and do a left rollback – no hesitation. 4. Trot to the opposite end of the arena past the end marker and do a right rollback -no hesitation. 5. Trot up the middle past the center marker and execute a stop and back. Hesitate to demonstrate completion of the pattern *pattern diagram available at the event

Level 2: Walk-Trot-Lope may walk or trot to the center of the arena. Horses must walk or stop prior to starting the pattern. Beginning at the center of the arena facing the left wall or fence. 1. Beginning on the left , lope two circles to the left. Stop at the center of the arena. Hesitate. 2. Complete two spins to the left. Hesitate. 3. Beginning on the right lead lope two circles to the right. Stop at the center of the arena. Hesitate. 4. Complete two spins to the right. Hesitate. 5. Beginning on the left lead, go around the end of the arena, lope down the right side of the arena past center marker, stop and roll back right. 6. Continue around the end of the arena to run down the left side of the arena past the center marker. Stop. Back up. Hesitate to demonstrate completion of the pattern *pattern diagram available at the event

Level 3: Para-Reining Riders competing at level three will use AQHA Reining pattern number 12, which includes simple lead changes, roll-backs and variations in speed at the lope. *pattern diagram available at the event

Level 4: Para-Reining Riders competing at level four includes all maneuvers as otherwise prescribed by USA Reining. Level 4 riders will compete using one of the FEI Reining patters 1 through 10. Competitions will identify the pattern in advance. *pattern diagram(s) available at the event

2014 Rules for Para-Reining For the 2014 Competition Year, USA Reining will use the newly adapted AQHA Equestrians with Disabilities rules for Reining, to be specialized, revised and collated with the international Para-Equestrian rules for the 2015 Competition Year after the first competition year.
