INSTALLATION MASS OF REV. CHRISTOPHER LANKFORD, 11TH PASTOR OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CATHOLIC CHURCH

At the 5:00 p.m. Mass on Saturday, October 31, 2020, Rev. Christopher Lankford will be installed as St. John the Baptist Catholic Church’s 11th Pastor. Our new bishop, The Most Reverend Ronald A. Hicks, will install Fr Chris here at St. John’s.

Fr Chris grew up in Notre Dame Parish in Clarendon Hills. He went to Notre Dame Catholic grade school through 8th grade, and then attended and graduated from Hinsdale Central High School. He attended Saint John Vianney College Seminary, then went onto Mundelein Seminary to study theology.

Fr Chris began thinking about the priesthood when he was only four years old. He loved altar serving at his parish, and served throughout grade school and high school. Attending a priesthood ordination on June 7, 2008 at the Cathedral of St. Raymond is where Fr Chris felt a strong call to lay down his life as a priest. Fr Chris was ordained a priest on May 21, 2016 and has served as parochial vicar at Immaculate Reverend Christopher Lankford, 11th Conception Parish in Elmhurst and Sts. Pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Peter and Paul Parish in Naperville be- Church fore coming to St. John’s.

Fr Chris is the youngest pastor in our diocese, and was the first priest in his or- dination class to be asked to be a pastor.

Fr Chris’s mission is getting souls to Heaven. This is his number one priority.

Fr Chris has loved sports from an early age, his favorite being baseball. He plays in a weekly adult softball league, and the Cubs captured his baseball heart from an early age. When Fr Chris gets a rare day off, he enjoys spending time with family and friends. Two years ago Fr Chris adopted a rescue dog, an 85-lb Labrador retriever named Cal, who also makes his home at the rectory.

Bishop Hicks who will install St. John’s is blessed to have you as our pastor, Fr Chris. We are so happy your new home is here with us at St. John’s. Welcome, Fr Chris! Fr Chris on October 31, 2020 Please pray for our sick

ALL SOULS’ DAY NOVEMBER 2ND

On Monday, November 2, the Church celebrates the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed, also known as All Souls’ Day, when we pray for all who have died this year. As in the past, a special Mass will be said at 7:00 PM in the Church where we will remember in prayer those who have died this past year by reading their names and lighting candles in their memory during the Mass. Con- currently, there will be a Mass in the Chapel in Spanish. Names will not be read at the Mass in Spanish.

We encourage you to bring pictures of your loved ones who have died to the Mass. They will be placed on a table in the Church and remain there until November 25th. The picture should be framed and have your name and phone number on the back to ensure it is returned.

Please sign up for the Mass on our website at www.stjohnwinfield.org, and scroll down to the SignUpGenius logo. Or, you can call the parish office and we are happy to sign you up for the Mass. Everyone in attendance is asked to wear a mask at all times, and we ask that all participants social distance 6 feet from each other if not residing in the same household.
