Two thousand years ago, one man revolutionized the meaning of the word "love".
"Love others as yourself" is the mandate that Christ gave to his disciples. He shared with us the example of his untiring service for others, his compassion for the poor and suffering, and his continual self-sacrifice. The example of Jesus is the reason why the Adventist Devel- opment and Relief Agency exists. His love is what motivates the staff of ADRA Canada as we work to help people in developing countries meet their essential needs, and as we provide relief to victims of drought, war, and natural disasters. And ADRA Canada needs your support to keep putting this love into action. After the service, the students were invited to a potluck dinner. To show their appreciation for the Red Deer Baptism delicious food that was served, the students washed the dishes after the meal. This gesture pleased the church congregation immensely.
Greg Nelson, pastor of the Union College church, spoke at the Parkview Adventist Academy Week of Spiritual Emphasis on November 2-7. Nelson, former pastor of the Auburn Adventist Academy church, presented the theme of "Facing Fear Fearlessly." Nelson, also a musician, composer and songwriter, sang a song at the end of each service. The main point Nelson tried to bring across to the students was that "our personal perspective of God will affect how we relate to God and how we affect each other." Great and wonderful things are happening in Alberta at the Red Deer Seventh-day Adventist Church. You may call it "revival", "reformation", or "on fire for Christ". Hearts were thrilled as three precious people joined the family of God by a public testimony of their love for Jesus in baptism.
