▼ Washing your hands with soap kills germs. But many people have little or no soap. Shawn Seipler learned that millions of used bars of soap from hotels around the world are thrown away every day. So he TEACHING TIP started a company to collect all that used soap. It has delivered 25 million new bars of soap to 99 countries. Workers teach people that using soap can help keep them well.

About 24 pilots from four countries brought their gliders to Athens, ▼ Tennessee, in windy April. They came to see who could stay in the air the longest and who could fl y the highest. The ship Hermoine (air-mee-OH-nee) helped America to win the Revolutionary War. The Marquis de Lafayette sailed on the ship ▼ from France 235 years ago. Some people in Japan had a fair. They got used dolls. Then they prayed to the dolls. They think the dolls kept children safe and well.

▼ Many people in Japan do not worship God. They worship things—rocks, trees, or animals, for example. One day in May is set aside as a “Festival of Repayment of Kindness,” TIP or “Doll’s Day.” People collect dolls children have had. They pray to the dolls. They thank the dolls for protecting their young owners. Then they burn the dolls. Pray for Christians to tell the Japanese about Jesus.
