Trevor Bauer’s Bloody Drone Accident By: David Stewart

Indians Trevor Bauer suffered a weird injury Thursday October 13 to his right hand pinky finger. He was plugging in his drone as the propellers switched on at full speed, slicing his finger. Bauer was scheduled to pitch for the Indians Sunday October 16 in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series (ALCS), but due to the crazy injury that start got pushed back to Monday’s Game 3 against the Blue Jays. Bauer had to get 10 stitches into his pinky. He was really hoping that the stitches would stay in while was pitching, but that didn't happen; the stitches all ripped out as he was warming up for the game. Before the game started, his finger was already bleeding and he wasn't allowed to have any foreign substance on his hand so he couldn’t stop the bleeding while he was pitching. Bauer’s finger started to gush blood as he waited for the sign given by the . While watching the game on TV, you could see the blood drip from his finger onto his pants and his cleats. The Indians manager,Terry

Francona, finally took Bauer out after ⅔ of an inning. Francona told Bauer to keep that bloody because he said it could be worth a lot of money in the future.

After the whole issue with Bauer’s finger, his next scheduled start, which was supposed to be game 4 of the ALCS against the , was replaced with Ryan Merritt who was in the Indians Arizona league for most of the season. Merritt came in and had an amazing outing against the Blue Jays. Merritt did not allow a run but allowed two hits in 4 and ⅓ . Before this start Merritt only had 4 other appearances with the Indians in 2016 only giving up 2 runs and 6 in 11 innings pitched. With Merritt's incredible performance in the ALCS, it clinched the Indians spot in the 2016 . Trevor Bauer took some time to recover from his injury and appeared in 3 games of the

World Series for the Tribe against the Cubs. In the 3 games that Bauer pitched in in the

World Series he had 8 and ⅓ innings pitched with 10 strikeouts, 5 runs, 12 hits, and 2 walks.

Unfortunately the Indians couldn't hold off the as they lost an extra inning thriller,

8-7, in game seven of the World Series.
