Classes 130, 131 and 132 are qualifiers for the 2016 Osborne Refrigerators BDS National Championships at Driving Addington on 24 September. The highest placed turnout owned and driven by a member of the British Driving Society and eligible for (c) Single non-hackney type (excluding purebred Registered Welsh) - over 13.2hh; (d) Single non-hackney type (excluding purebred Registered Welsh) - 13.2hh and under; (h) Single Registered Mountain & Moorland (excluding purebred Registered Welsh); (i) Pairs and Tandems (open, any height); disregarding those already qualified down to 6th place in the class will qualify for the 2016 Semi-Finals at Driving Addington. The Championship will immediately follow the Semi-Finals.

This class is open to thoroughbreds that have raced in GB and have qualified for this Championship during the 2015/2016 Season. No rider may compete in more than one section per day. Each class to be judged as a single phase. Those equal will tie. Riders competing in these classes may not compete in any other classes at the show. The first 6 prizewinners in each section in the Mini Championships on Sunday (open to competitors who have competed on at least one other day at this show) will receive prizes in kind. ENTRY FEE: £20 per class per day Thursday - Saturday. £25 per class on Sunday. For office purposes, entries must be made in advance and before close of entries. One horsebox pass and two exhibitor passes per pony will be sent on receipt of entries. Due to the installation of the Bunn Leisure Arena, Ring 6 is now considerably smaller in size. By popular demand, the Hickstead Mini Challenge classes will continue, but the Committee wishes to point out, following several incidents in the past, that they are staged for fun and to give the children a chance to jump at Hickstead. An arbitration procedure is provided for in the FEI Statutes and General Regulations referred to above. In accordance with this procedure, any appeal against a decision rendered by the FEI or its official bodies is to be settled exclusively by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland. It is the responsibility of NFs to ensure their participants are of the correct age.

Final approval of this schedule by the FEI, in accordance with Article 115.1, denotes only that the contents conform to the FEI Statutes, General Regulations and Rules. By no means does this entail implicit acceptance of any liability by the FEI for any damages to third parties caused by the Organising Committee and its officials, athletes, owners, and horses. HORSE INSPECTION A Horse Inspection will be carried out in the International Stabling Compound between 15.30 and 18.30 hours on Wednesday 22nd June 2016. ALL HORSES TAKING PART AT THIS EVENT MUST BE PRESENTED DURING THE FIRST HORSE INSPECTION OTHERWISE THEY ARE NOT PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE (FEI RULE).

EVENT’S ORGANISATION (ARTICLES 114-115) In exceptional circumstances, together with the approval of Chefs d’Equipe, host NF delegate, if any, and the Ground Jury, the Organiser may change the schedule in order to clarify any matter or matters arising from an omission or due to unforeseen circumstances. Any such changes must be notified to all athletes and officials as soon as possible and they must be reported to the FEI Secretary General by the Foreign Judge.

RULES FOR SHOWJUMPING EXHIBITORS SUBSTITUTIONS AND LATE ENTRIES Substitutions may be allowed in jumping competitions at the discretion of the Executive, provided that a written statement is produced to support the application, and the animal substituted is in the same ownership. If an animal is up-graded before a competition he may be transferred upon notice to the Executive to another appropriate competition. Late and amended entries if taken at the show, will be charged an extra £5 per class. ORDER OF JUMPING Horses and ponies must jump in the order in which they appear on the Notice Board or starting sheet, unless special permission has been obtained from the Executive. Any competitor missing his turn may be eliminated from the competition. During the competition Three competitors must always be ready to enter the arena. If a competitor does not respond when he is called he loses his turn, and may be eliminated from the competition in progress. JUNIOR MEMBERS Junior Members are only permitted to compete on horses from the calendar year in which the age of 12 is reached. UNACCOMPANIED COMPETITORS Unaccompanied competitors must provide the Show Organiser with a contact telephone number in case of an emergency. DECLARATIONS DECLARATIONS FOR ALL INTERNATIONAL CLASSES MUST BE MADE ON THE PREVIOUS EVENING BY 5.30 pm. All substitutions must be made at the time of declaration. In the International classes should the number of entries require it, the Executive, with the approval of the Ground Jury, reserves the right to limit the number of horses that a rider may ride in a class, to limit the number of times a horse may start in a day, and if necessary to hold a qualifying competition. Any rider failing to declare will be reported to the Jury of Appeal who may disqualify or fine that rider. Competitors in national classes must declare at the ringside before the start of their class. If there are no competitors waiting to jump or there are no numbers on the blackboard, the judges will close the class. This rule particularly applies to the first class of the day. Please ensure that you arrive early. QUALIFYING FOR THE INTERNATIONAL ARENA All starting fees will be taken at the Secretary’s Office. Starting fees are taken as declarations. Entries for all National Classes confined to registered horses/ponies to be ridden by members in accordance with Rule 79. BADGES FOR SHOWJUMPING EXHIBITORS Owners and riders of horses in the jumping classes must be members of Hickstead where applicable, and will receive one Groom’s Badge per two horses, plus a Horsebox Pass for parking in the Stable Field. Exhibitor passes will only be issued for the day of competition. Weekly stabling does not entitle exhibitors to weekly passes. These must be purchased. STALLIONS “Rule 82.19 No member shall allow a stallion for which he/she is responsible as owner, lessee, authorised agent or rider to compete or be prepared to compete, in any show jumping competition without taking adequate precautions to ensure other members of the public are not put at risk of injury”. Also refer to Rule 102.13.

HEIGHT RULES FOR SHOWING EXHIBITORS Official Measurement Certificates, issued under the Joint Measurement Scheme of the BSHA, NPS and the BSPS only must be produced if requested. All horses must be properly shod except the in-hand classes. HACKS, COBS AND RIDING HORSES These classes are being held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. For Horse of the Year Show qualifiers the Horse of the Year Show rules take precedence. Horses must be registered with the Association and all owners, exhibitors and riders must be Association Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. This is a qualifying show for the Hack, Cob and Riding Horse of the Year classes at Horse of the Year Show 5th - 9th October 2016 and the first prize-winner in classes 150, 151, 152, 153, 154, 179 and 180 will qualify. If already qualified, qualification will be passed down the line. No horse lower than fifth may qualify. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. In accordance with BSHA rules, the annual BSHA £15 Horse of the Year Show fee must have been paid to BSHA before the entry is made if the exhibitor wishes to qualify. The BSHA Horse of the Year Show fee cannot be paid in retrospect. This fee is not the Horse of the Year Show levy which goes to Grandstand Media Ltd. Horses competing at Horse of the Year Show and qualifying shows in the Hunter Sections of The Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain classes at their affiliated shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and Riding Horse Classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse classes. This is a qualifying show for the BSHA National Championship Show on September 9th - 11th. The three highest placed horses in classes 150, 151, 152, 153, 154, 179 and 180 will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic Supreme Classes. The BSHA offer a Novice, Amateur and Young Rider Rosette in each open class and a champion rosette for each section. The Association will also award a new Amateur Home Produced rosette in all affiliated Open classes (with the exception of Open Working Show Horse, Ladies Show Horse and HOYS Hunter classes); the Cob rosettes have been kindly sponsored by TSG and the Hack, Maxi Cob and Riding Horse rosettes have been kindly sponsored by Mr & Mrs E McCourt. The awards will go down the line; there is no limit on how many of these rosettes can be claimed in a year. HUNTERS These classes are being held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. Classes 149, 181, 191, 192 and 193 are qualifying classes for Horse of the Year Show 5th - 9th October 2016. The first prizewinner in each class will qualify. If already qualified, qualification will pass down the line. No horse lower than third will qualify. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. Owners, exhibitors and riders must be members of the British Show Horse Association (BSHA), and all horses must be registered with the BSHA. MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND OPEN RIDDEN CLASSES These Classes are being judged under BSPS rules as per the 2016 BSPS Rule and Show Handbook. Qualification will be verified by the BSPS office. MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND MINI CLASSES These Classes are being held under Horse of the Year Show rules. The highest placed pony, not already qualified, from the first three in each class will qualify for Horse of the Year Show 5th - 9th October 2016. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. COLOURED HORSE CLASSES This show is affiliated to The Coloured Horse and Pony Society (UK). Exhibitors are asked to pay particular attention to the rulings printed above Class 195. DRIVING These classes are being held under the auspices of the British Driving Society. This show is a qualifier for Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham 5th - 9th October 2016. The winner of the British Private Driving Derby will qualify - if already qualified, the reserve champion will go forward, down to 6th. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. The Champion will qualify for the Victoria Food Company Final to be held on 11th September 2016 at Kings Sedgemoor Equestrian Centre, Greylake, Nr Bridgewater, Somerset TA7 9BP. If the champion has already qualified, the reserve will go forward. MOBILE PHONES The use of mobile phones in the ring is prohibited. Anyone using a mobile phone in the ring will be asked to leave the ring. BADGES FOR SHOWING EXHIBITORS Exhibitors in the Showing Classes will receive one Owner’s Badge and one Rider’s Badge, plus a Horsebox Pass for parking in the Stable Field. One Groom’s Badge will be allocated per two horses. Exhibitors may purchase extra passes in advance from the Hickstead Office (please see back of entry form). Exhibitor passes will only be issued for the day of competition. Weekly stabling does not entitle exhibitors to weekly passes. These must be purchased. SHOWING EXHIBITORS’ NUMBERS Showing exhibitors will be sent their numbers in advance with their badges.

SHOWING GROOMS’ DRESS Grooms must be correctly dressed when entering the arena, i.e. hat and jacket, and no denim. Anyone deemed inappropriately dressed will not be allowed to enter the ring. HICKSTEAD GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. DRESS International Jumping: In accordance with FEI Rules. National Jumping: In accordance with British Showjumping Rule 101. Showing: In accordance with the rules of the relevant showing society. Protective headgear must be worn by anybody riding a horse for any reason. 2. FORFEITURE OF FEES AND CHARGES If entries are cancelled after the closing date, half the entry fee will be refunded on production of a current vet’s certificate. We regret no stabling charges can be refunded (other than in accordance with British Showjumping Rules). Should any competition be cancelled because of bad weather or any reason, entry fees will be refunded. It is regretted that stabling and other charges cannot be refunded. 3. PRIZE-GIVING Owners of winning horses are most welcome to come into the arena for prize-giving (suitably dressed). This applies to all rings. Article 130. 4. TIMETABLE AND CLASS LISTS The Organising Committee reserves the right to move classes to other rings or change times as they think fit. The revised timetable and class lists will be posted on the notice boards. Riders whose horses are not stabled at Hickstead are strongly advised to check the Hickstead website www.hickstead.co.uk after 8.00pm for revised times. 5. VEHICLES The Executive reserves the right to remove any vehicle which is obstructing any access to or from the ground even if locked and unattended and the Executive will not be liable for any injury, loss or damage occasioned by such removal. 6. MOTORBIKES AND BICYCLES In the interests of safety of competitors and members of the public, the riding of bicycles, motor cycles, mopeds, etc, is FORBIDDEN anywhere on the Hickstead Showground. Anybody contravening this rule will be sent off the Showground. 7. FIRE PRECAUTION The County Fire Officer of West Sussex has ordered that all horse boxes and caravans parked in the Stable Field must carry a fire extinguisher. You may be asked to leave if you do not have one. 8. STABLING All stabling will be on the ground in either permanent or hired boxes. International horses will be stabled in Woodhouse Stables (min. 3m x 3m). Stabling will be made available for the period of the show ONLY at £145 inc VAT per box (brick or wooden). No bookings will be taken for shorter periods. No horses or persons may come on the showground before 10am on Tuesday, 21st June. Due to fire regulations, it is regretted that straw is banned from the Stable Field. EXHIBITORS ARE ADVISED TO BRING THEIR OWN SHAVINGS. Stables will not be bedded down in advance. Due to the escalating cost of muck removal, exhibitors will be charged £6 per stable to go towards the cost of this service. Extra shavings, hay and forage can be purchased in the Stable Field on a daily basis. Exhibitors are expected to leave their stables in a clean state - failure to do so may result in future expulsion from Hickstead. No horses or ponies may be kept in lorries overnight. Exhibitors who have not booked stabling will not be admitted to the Stable Field until the day of their competition. Stallion owners are required to bring their own electric packs. Failure to do so will result in exhibitors having to purchase a pack from the Stable Manager at a cost of £200 per unit. Unruly or dangerous animals may be asked to leave the showground. 9. HORSEBOXES It is a requirement to put your mobile telephone number on your horsebox pass which must be displayed in the windscreen. It is prohibited for any exhibitor or associate to interfere with another exhibitor’s horsebox. 10. RIDERS’ CAR PARK Exhibitors and visitors parking in the Riders’ Car Park at the top of the Stable Field near the exit will be charged £10 per day or £30 for the week. Car passes can be purchased in advance or on the day. 11. CARAVANS AND LIVED-IN HORSE BOXES There will be a limit of one caravan or one lived-in horse box per exhibitor for every three horses which they enter for the show. There will be no charge. Exhibitors with generators on their horseboxes must turn them off by 10.00pm. This ruling will be strictly enforced by Stable Field Security. Exhibitors who fail to comply with this ruling will be asked to leave the showground. 12. PRIZE MONEY CHEQUES In order to be honoured, prize money cheques must be cashed within six months of issue date. Failure to do so will result in loss of prize money. 13. RETURNED CHEQUES Any exhibitor whose cheque is not cleared through the banking system will incur a £30 surcharge, payable before entries can be accepted. 14. ANY COMPETITOR found riding in the ring without permission will be disqualified from the show and reported to the Stewards of British Showjumping. All warming up must be done in the area provided. No one is allowed on the showground in the evenings or up to an hour before the first class in the morning. Any person riding their horses anywhere other than in the permitted areas will be subject to disciplinary action by the Executive and may be ordered off the showground. 15. THE EXECUTIVE MAY IN ANY DISPUTE OR OTHER MATTER WHATSOEVER, ACT OR DECIDE IN ANY MANNER THEY THINK FIT (SAVING FEI AND BRITISH SHOWJUMPING RULES). ALL OBJECTIONS AND COMPLAINTS MUST BE MADE IN WRITING AND ACCOMPANIED BY A DEPOSIT OF THE EQUIVALENT OF 150 CHF. (£60) Article 167- 171, or £100 under British Showjumping Rule 198. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THE GENERAL RULES AND REQUIREMENTS ON THE ENTRY FORM. ANY PERSON COMING TO HICKSTEAD OR INVOLVED IN ANY ASPECTS OF THE MEETING IS DEEMED TO BE BOUND BY THE GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS AND ALL INDEMNITIES AND UNDERTAKINGS REQUIRED ON THE ENTRY FORM.
