Let me begin by saying ―Thank you‖ to our outgoing president Lynne Hartung. Lynne has been a great friend and mentor to me these past two years and I greatly appre- ciate it.

Out first order of business for the 2012 Presidential Election will be our caucus on February 4th. If you haven’t signed up to help staff a caucus site or stuff precinct packets, please consider doing so. It’s a rewarding way of serving your community and the Party.

After the caucus, we will be conducting our annual Leadership Training. Because of the caucus and Lincoln Day Dinners, our Leadership Training will be later this year. Southern Leadership will be February 24 & 25 and Northern Leadership will be March 2 & 3.

I’m sure you’ve noticed that a Friday session has been added. The Friday session will be a By- laws Workshop. In 2012, we will be conducting a review of the NvFRW bylaws. Having a workshop will help us to identify areas that need immediate action and develop a Bylaws Review Team consisting of the NvFRW Bylaws Chairman and club Bylaws Chairmen. A Bylaws Review Team will assist us in opening a line of communication between the state federation and local clubs. This review is only a review of the NvFRW bylaws. Individual clubs will make the determination as to whether or not they review their own bylaws. I invite any interested parties to attend these workshops. RSVPs will be required.

As your incoming president, I look forward to working with all of you to make 2012 the year we ―Turn Nevada RED!‖.

ARW’s NFRW and NvFRW 2010-2011 Biennium Achievements are proof in the pudding that this club lives up to its name, ―active‖. Beginning the biennium under the leadership of Peggy Micco Koning and ending with that of Maureen Karas, ARW is proud to report that for this time period, ARW earned the NvFRW Membership Award for increasing membership by 32% and the highest award possible for achievement, the NFRW Diamond Award. Addi- tionally, 2nd Vice President Cherie Wood received an individual NFRW Membership Achievement Award for recruit- ing ten (10) new full members in 2011. Congratulations to all members of ARW who worked tirelessly to make these awards happen, and to Cherie Wood for her exceptional performance.

Special recognition was awarded two ARW Members at Convention in Minden. NvFRW 2nd Vice President Melody Howard answered a call for help sent out by Vicky Maltman, President North Valleys Club. A 70-year old veteran woman found herself in dire straits requiring she move from her home immediately. Melody organized movers and solicited help. Maureen Karas made a donation to help defray some of the moving expenses. Both were awarded and presented with ―service‖ awards from Senator Dean Heller’s Office. And unknown to all at the time, Melody’s husband, Matthew Yarborough was later given the award, as well as Melody’s boss, Richard Scotti, for their donations.

Now, on to 2011 highlights! 2nd Vice President Membership Cherie Wood kicked off the 2012 Membership Drive with a ―New Member & Renewal Happy Hour‖ at a member’s home. Being so proactive may be one reason why Cherie was elected NvFRW’s new 2nd Vice President Membership!

Kate and Judy Kelly, ARW’s biennium Caring for American Soldier Chairs, try to go over and above each year’s service. This year ARW shipped over 500 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies and coffee, thanked our troops with a 4th of July Party in a bag (hundreds of pounds of goodies), donated $300 in restaurant gift cards to the Boulder City Veterans Home for Veterans Day, and is getting ready to ship hundreds of pounds of SOS (socks, Oreos and Starbucks – what a returning soldier said they love the best) for ARW’s annual Operation Christmas Stocking! Awesome job ladies and ARW members!!!!

This year ARW’s newly formed Community Outreach Committee, chaired by Brenda Flank, kicked off 2011 by showcasing February as Republican Civil Rights History month and creating a handout listing and explaining ―Key Dates in Republican Civil Rights History‖. Next, the committee tackled getting copies of the Constitution into the schools. The program at Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy included bringing the Liberty Day Program to all 3rd, 4th and 5th grades with three local legal experts performing Constitutional lectures and a 5th grade essay contest on the Constitution. For Constitution Day, Mayor Carolyn Goodman spoke to the middle school children about the Constitution and each child was given his or her own pocket Constitution. The final Constitutional event took place on Constitution Day at CSN’s North Campus. ARW partnered with the Conservative Alliance for Growth and donated several hundred copies of the Constitution for the event. Speakers included former NV Chief Supreme Court Justice Michael Douglas & CORE National Spokesperson Niger Innis.

Caring for America Chair Barbara Altman teamed up with the Community Outreach Committee in adopting Kit Carson Elementary School. ARW participated in and donated bottled water to community events at the school as well as collected much needed school items for a back-to-school drive. Barbara also conducted two other successful donation drives, one to Safe Nest children and a second to the Nevada Homeless Youth.

Melody Howard, ARW’s Legislative Chair, worked with NvFRW Legislative Chair Linda Bronstein on a peti- tion to require Voter ID. She also worked tirelessly within ARW to reject AB 108, a bill to allow the abhorrent same day voter registration.

ARW worked in conjunction with other Federation clubs on several projects. ARW called registered Republi- can voters in Laughlin to solicit interest in the new Laughlin Republican Women’s Club. ARW volunteers worked on the CCRP’s Lincoln Day Dinner Committee, the Western Leadership Conference and the joint fundraiser for Mark Amodei.

ARW also honored and awarded $250 to the UNLV College Republicans at a membership meeting.

BCRW provided Liberty Day (Constitution) packets for 180 fifth grade students at Martha P. King Elemen- tary School and Grace Christian Academy in Boulder City. We were pleased that Martha P. King teachers took this opportunity to spend a week in September for students to learn about the Constitution and that Grace Christian Academy had an all class assembly on the Constitution. We thank Linda Graham, Americanism Chair, for orga- nizing our Liberty Day Project.

Also, in September BCRW sponsored a 2012 Caucus Training Session for members and Republicans in the community. This is the first of two Clark County Republican Party training sessions for volunteers that will be working at the Boulder City 2012 precinct caucus site.

BCRW celebrated receiving the 2010-2011 NFRW Diamond Club Achievement Award and its 30th (pearl) Anniversary at its October 20th luncheon meeting. BCRW was chartered December 10, 1981. Three of our Charter members, Jeanne Gill, Aileen Zerfoss and Rose Woodbury are still members today. BCRW has earned the diamond award nine times out of the fifteen biennial award periods since its charter.

As the holidays approach, please remember to save greeting cards to donate to St. Jude’s Recycled Card Program run by children at the ranch. BCRW members will gladly collect your cards when they see you at various NvFRW events in January and February and deliver them to St. Jude’s in Boulder City for you.

Fernley Republican Women (FRW) ended the year with 31 members and 31 associates, a small but very productive club.

Our Fourth of July Chair, Jane Lewis, designed another fabulous float that won us a 1st Place Trophy in the political category for the 3rd year in a row. Jane is also the editor of our newsletter of note, The Right Side of Fernley.

Our Literacy Chair, Connie Ste- vens, has completed our four-part 2011 Literacy Project. On September 7, 2011, the Fernley Republican Women presented a dictionary to each 3rd grade student at Cottonwood Elementary School. We also participated in the Liberty Day project, providing copies of the Constitution to over four hundred 5th graders in Fernley and Silver Springs. On September 16, 2011, we presented two MELP books to Principal Billiejo Hogan and Dean of Students Kasey Smith for the Fernley Elementary School library. Throughout the year, the FRW collected children’s books. On September 19, 2011, Liter- acy Chair Connie Stevens, along with her husband Ed, FRW member Jane Lewis and her husband, Lee, and Mary Fimbres delivered an astonishing 853 books to the Shriners Hospital in Sacramento.

As I wind down my second term as Fernley Republican Women’s president, I want to thank the Board of Directors, members and associates, who supported me in every possible way. Many of the behind the scenes tasks did not get public attention, but they were indispensible to the success of our club.

North Valleys Republican Women would like to thank those that attended our fundraising effort in September. We were able to raise over $2,200.00 to do precinct work in our area, and over $700.00 for our Sup- port the Troops program. We are so thankful to Maricopa Sheriff Joe Arpaio, John Tyson, and those that came to our event. We look forward to getting out the vote in 2010 and participating in such an important time in politics. We were also able to purchase and participate in the Liberty Day Program, and helped support one of our Sun Valley schools with a four-day program, where they get to learn about nature in and around Lake Tahoe.

On another note, I am very honored to have been chosen 1st Vice President. My deep appreciation to those that support and believe in my abilities to be a leader for our great organization.

I am always open to suggestions for speakers and ideas as your program chairman for 2012. Please feel free to contact me with your suggestions for next year. If we stand together, anything is possible. Congratulations to our newly elected officers. Let’s make 2012 a banner year for the NvFRW!

So far Governor Sandoval has not called a Special Session of the Legislature to handle any Budget or other items. We are waiting for a court decision on a redistricting plan for Nevada.

Many thanks go to everyone across the state that helped elect Congressman Mark Amodei. This was a decisive victory to set the stage for Republican campaign efforts in 2012. It was the first time in 17 years for Clark County precincts in CD2 to go Republican Red.

Thank you for your support by getting involved and voicing your opinion on legislative issues to our Legisla- tors during my time as your legislative chair. I have enjoyed meeting you and learning from the experiences that we’ve shared during the 2011 Legislative Session and our NvFRW Legislative Day. V OLUME 2, I SSUE 6 P AGE 10

The Regents Program ended 2011 with 58Regents and two Re-gents. (At our biennial convention in Minden in October, we signed up 14 Regents for 2012 with more coming!) The 2011 breakdown by club is as follows:  Active Republican Women - 6

 Boulder City Republican Women - 5

 Carson City Republican Women - 7

 Douglas County Republican Women - 5

 Fernley Republican Women - 7

 Incline Village Republican Women - 3

 Lyon County Republican Women - 2

 Spring Mountain Republican Women - 2

 Sierra Nevada Republican Women - 1

 Sparks Republican Women - 4

 Washoe Republican Women - 1

 Unknown - 1

 National Federation of Republican Women - 2

As you can see, only 19 from the south part of the state participated in the Regents Program (the woman listed under Unknown was from the south). We certainly hope they will do better in 2012.

In addition to hosting a reception at the Spring Board Meeting in Carson City, we awarded two $1,000.00 scholarships. One was given to the Boulder City club nominee, Shelby Gebhart, and one to Carson City's nominee, Caitlin Berkich. Shelby's mother and grandmother are both members of the Boulder City club, while Caitlin and her grandmother are members of the Carson City club.

The Regents also revisited their priorities and adopted new Standing Rules. Some programs previously funded by the Regents were moved to the Federation's Operating Budget, including the Scholarship Program, which will now be funded by the Your Choice Drawing, renamed the Jo Marshall Scholarship Fund Drawing. For a copy of the new Standing Rules, please visit the Nevada Federation's website.

Your Regents co-chairs for 2011 (Peggy Gray and Joan Patrick) thank you for the opportunity to serve the Nevada Federation and wish your chairman for 2012, Kay Butchko, the best of luck. P AGE 11 V OLUME 2, I SSUE 6

The CCRP congratulates the women's clubs throughout Nevada for their accomplishments and for the recognition they received in Kansas City last weekend. This recognition shows the rest of the United States what we in Nevada have known for a long time -- the Women's Clubs are always there, volunteering to walk, make phone calls, plan and attend events, and do whatever they are asked in the effort to get Republicans elected.

Congratulations to you all, and we look forward to a continued close relationship with these hardworking Republicans.
