In 1937 C. O. van Regteren Altena D. Sc. published the well-known kennis subfossiele fossiele ”Bijdrage tot de der recente, en mollusken die de Nederlandsche stranden en hunner ver- op aanspoelen spreiding” (Contribution to the knowledge of the recent, subfossil and fossil washed ashore on the Netherlands coast and their distribution).

This is the marine mollusca in the first monograph on Netherlands which all the known mentioned with and localities, are data and that this has been stimulus for the we may say publication a gathering of marine mollusca by a number of junior biologists and

students well geologists, as as amateurs.

In been and filed this way many important data have gathered by the "Strandgroep" of the N.J.N. (Netherlands Youth League for Nature Study).

The author of this article is therefore much indebted mr. very to of C. O. van Regteren Altena, assistant at the Leyden Museum

G e e 1 h o e d, members or former members of this "Strandgroep", for the full imformation they have given and for their help in completing the records with data obtained from a great number of other collectors.

All the records and information obtained have now been compiled and will circumstances be as soon as permit published as a ..supplement"
