University of Scouting

Welcome to the University of Scouting, 2019. This one-day event is designed to provide supplemental training opportunities, ideas and resources that will benefit you in whatever position you serve in a Cub Pack, Scout Troop or Crew. Whether you are new to scouting or a seasoned volunteer, this is a great opportunity to make new connections, meet new people and grow in your understanding of scouting and its benefits in our area. The event is open to both youth (12 and above) and adults.

This year there are a couple of changes worth noting: being held in a new building with more visibility between colleges/sessions and accessibility between colleges/ floors, a dedicated lunch hour that gives you time to stop into our midway while providing an opportunity for fellowship, idea exchanges and more with other Scouters/ Scouts, and degree printing services so you can get your degree certificate right at our event.

This year we have several curricular colleges offering courses in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturing, General Studies, and Youth Leadership. These courses are designed to supplement the leader-specific training you took for your position. We are also planning to offer a limited number of computer stations for adults wanting to complete their online leader-specific training. Whatever your interests, with over 50 courses on the roster, you're sure to find something that fits your needs. We hope you use this opportunity to take a variety of courses across the colleges.

Our host this year is the Rochester Institute of Technology, the Lyndon Baines Johnson Hall (at NTID) with special assistance from the RIT chapter of society. This venue has a large number of classrooms and a food court that will be available to participants.

The following pages should give you all the information you need about this event. If there is anything missing or anything we can do to help, please email us at [email protected].
