Is there a shortcut somewhere to finding this? There is. We can make the decision to definitively reori- ent our inner being toward God. How do we do this? By deepening our conversation with Him— beginning in the morning and continuing in free moments throughout the day. We can embrace a love the Mass and the Eucharist. Daily Mass, Confession, and good classic Catholic reading are excellent suggestions. We can be open to a good Catholic friend. But most of all, we can allow our hearts to fall passionately in love with Him.

Once we commit to a deeper relationship with God, the Holy Spirit will open doors of opportunity for deeper growth. We will find our lives beginning to change. We will find our- selves losing interest in worldly things. We will begin to find God “lurking” in unexpected places (and people).

Many of our problems or struggles would ease or evaporate by simply making Christ the center of everything. When love of God pre- dominates, things in life seem to fall into their proper place. Relationships heal. Resentments dissipate. Addictions begin to moderate. Chains of sinful thoughts and behavior begin to loosen. Deep wounds begin to heal and fade. Let our life be undergirded, permeated, and inspired by love of God. Although storms may continue, we will be anchored safely in God. Jesus said, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him” (John 14:23). 5 P>OFPE IKCLOJ>QFLK KKFDEQP LC CLIRJ?RP
