Founded 12 years ago, HEC Montréal’s CSR Challenge has become a unique and international platform for young professionals, MBA students, and business leaders to exchange ideas and to discuss corporate social responsibility issues. The last year has been a testament to how rapidly our world can change and how we can adapt, and this competition is an opportunity for future leaders to develop their critical thinking skills and be at the forefront of emerging social responsibility challenges and solutions in this ever-changing landscape. The international exposure of our competition will broaden your horizons and build your global network.

HEC Montréal CSR Challenge is a bilingual Case Competition hosted by HEC Montréal and Association des Étudiants MBA (AEMBA). It is a two-day case-cracking event that focuses on the problems and challenges of environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

This year, we will host MBAs from around the globe in an online forum where they will provide solutions that will advance the role business leaders can play in contributing to the betterment of their communities.

Online Format

Unfortunately, the 11th annual CSR Challenge in March 2020 had to be canceled due to the pandemic. Registration, Schedule, and Prizes | 6

The competition is open to full-time and part-time MBA Students. All teams shall be composed of 4 team members, with the option of naming one more member as a substitute. Registration is limited to a maximum number of teams and done on a first- come-first-served basis. Priority will be given to the first team applying for each school.

SCHEDULE PRIZES

March 5th The three highest scoring teams will receive the following prizes ($ CAD) Case 1 and 2 (8AM - 6:30PM EST)

Case Structure

CASE 1 This case will be sent to the teams on February 24th, 2021 before 23:59 EST. Teams will then have until March 3rd, 2020 (23:59 EST) 25 MINUTES to work on the case and submit their presentation on PowerPoint PRESENTATION format via Innoflow. No changes are allowed on the presentation after 5 MINUTES Q&A submission. Delay in sending of the PowerPoint presentation will result in the deduction of 5 points for every hour delay beyond 23:59 EST. Teams can use any sources and resources they think relevant for this case, so feel free to research extensively. Teams will then present (the same PowerPoint presentation as the one submitted) on the morning of March 5th, 2021. The teams will then be allowed a maximum of 25 minutes of presentation and 5 min of Q&A.

CASE 2 To encourage a collaborative environment and to increase

20 MINUTES exposure amongst the participants, teams for the second case PRESENTATION will be randomized, where all the participating team members will 5 MINUTES Q&A be randomly distributed to new teams. Teams will then be given 4 hours to analyse the case and prepare their presentation. The final presentation must be submitted through innoflow within the four (4) hours preparation time. The teams will then be allowed a maximum of 20 minutes of presentation and 5 minutes of Q&A. Team members will then take back their share of the points earned during this round and contribute them to their original team’s tally. CASE 3 LIVE CASE During the Live Case, teams will listen to a presentation from 20 MINUTES the leaders of an organization and receive a short summary of PRESENTATION the main issues at hand. Teams will then have the opportunity to 5 MINUTES Q&A ask questions. They will be given 2.5 hours to analyse the case and prepare their presentation. The teams will then be allowed a maximum of 20 minutes of presentation and 5 minutes of Q&A. Contact us
