Regional Program Plans – 2005

Region Strategies Loddon • Shire of Campaspe – Develop a Healthy Urban Design Strategy and seek to build integrated planning framework for both the Municipal Strategic Statement and Municipal Public Health Plan. • Baw Baw Shire Council - Offer 'Healthy by design' workshop to council officers. Identify routes for walking and cycling between Drouin and Warragul. Asses routes for likely impact on incidental and recreational physical activity. Integrate route into residential development planning. – Establish an Alpine Community Wellbeing Planning Group and support healthy lifestyles project targeting younger people through collaboration with local schools. • Murrindindi Shire - Support use and dissemination of evaluation tool. • City of Greater Shepparton – Build a sense of belonging and connectedness through mentoring ‘grandparents program’ and support community consultation for the 2005- 2008 MPHP. • Moira Shire – Implement youth eating program focusing on healthy body and mind. • – Identify common issues with neighbouring councils and finalise the Wangaratta MPHP. • Strathbogie Shire – Develop resource for local community with a focus on community health, education and healthy lifestyles. • Moorabool Shire – Implement program to establish a sense of place and belonging in the community for parents and carers of young children. Use quality principles and the Quality Improvement Planning System (QIPPS) in planning and evaluating the program. Barwon –South • – develop G21 Health and Wellbeing Western Plan that will consider the health impact of the Geelong Region Strategic Plan and highlight regional health promotion priorities. • – develop local MPHP in parallel with broader G21 regional health and wellbeing plan North & West • The North and the West Local Government Health Networks are Metropolitan both implementing projects to support the application of the Environments for Health framework across all Councils. Eastern • Further develop, pilot and disseminate tools to support the Metropolitan Environments for Health policy implementation in all EMR councils. Southern • Support projects in and Greater Dandenong to Metropolitan increase physical activity focusing on the economic and natural environments.
