Joe-Wes Records, Inc., was registered in California on March 24, 1982, by Wesley Sanborn, who was CEO of the label. Sanborn was a producer. The mailing address of the label was Box 1680, Hendersonville, TN 37075.

In addition to album below, Jack Grayson had two country chart singles in the summer of 1982 from the album on Joe-Wes, billed as “Jack Grayson & Blackjack.” Karen Sanborn also had a timely single on the label in October called “Football Widow” [Joe-Wes JW-81007] backed by “Wes Sanborn’s Nashville Rhythm Section,” but it apparently didn’t get past the promo stage. You may recall that 1982 was the year of the NFL player strike and the replacement player fiasco. Another single on the label was “These Hands” by George Jones [Joe-Wes JW-81008], but that didn’t get past the promo stage, either. One album and less than 10 singles seemed to be the total output for the label, which lasted until the late summer, 1983, before folding..
