Carson Scheller has been a competitor of Targa in the Grand Touring division the past three years. He also has years of experience of competing in rallies throughout North America and has a business background in the ranching industry in the U.S. Southwest. Joe Dowden has been a long-time volunteer of Targa Newfoundland. He has held many positions within the organization, most recently being Clerk of the Course for Targa and Bambina events and Training Coordinator. He also has years of autocross experience and currently works within the automotive industry. Robert Lymburner is a retired teacher who has many years of volunteer experience with Targa, the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, and other volunteer groups. He too has held different positions within Targa, with the most recent being the Senior Area Coordinator. These three will join John Hume Sr. and Peter Guagenti (both long-time competitors with strong business backgrounds), Janet Brake (long-time volunteer with the most recent position of Scorer), and President Robert Giannou as members of the Board of Governors. Targa Newfoundland would like to welcome the newest members and thank everyone for volunteering their time to serve on the Board. Unofficial schedules released for Targa & Bambina 2018 Tentative schedules for Targa and Bambina have been released for the 2018 season. Both schedules are unofficial and are to be used as indicators of where the event(s) will be heading for their respective dates. Locations and stages will change throughout the winter and spring months.

Targa Schedule

Prologue, Sept. 15th (Saturday) - Flatrock and Bauline Prologue will be moved to Saturday instead of the usual Sunday in previous years. This is due to the potential of a Demo Stage for downtown St. John’s on Sunday, Sept. 16th.

Demo Stage, Sept. 16th (Sunday) - Downtown St. John’s/George St. area A 1km stage set up in the heart of Downtown St. John’s, with competitors able to run 35 laps of this Demo Stage.

Leg One, Sept. 17th (Monday) - Southern Shore area Petty Harbour, Bay Bulls, Witless Bay, North West Brook stages, with overnight in Clarenville.

Leg Two, Sept. 18th (Tuesday) - Burin Peninsula area Black River, Garden Cove, , Boat Harbour, Petite Forte, Marystown, with overnight in Marystown.

Leg Three, Sept. 19th (Wednesday) - Burin Peninsula area Mooring Cove, Grand Le Pierre, English Harbour, , North Harbour, with overnight in Conception Bay North.

Leg Four, Sept. 20th (Thursday) - Conception Bay North area Carbonear and Freshwater, with overnight in Conception Bay North.

Leg Five, Sept. 21st (Friday) - Avalon North area Colliers, Marysvale, Turks Gut, Cupids, Brigus, with Finish on George St.

Fast Tour division scoring given a new look for 2018 Targa The Fast Tour division of Targa will look different to answer throughout each stage for that day. The for the 17th annual event. The Fast Tour Division is not a speed, distance or time scored division. The score differential between participants are created as follows:  Each Fast Tour entry will be presented with a stage route proof card at the breathalyzer station each morning.  The Card will contain between three and five route proof questions which must be answered while traveling through the stage.  The number of questions will be dependent on the length of the stage.  The question answers must be filled out and presented to the Finish Line at the end of the stage.  Each non answered or incorrect answer to a question will result in a 1 second time penalty.  By passing an assigned stage will result in a maximum penalty for the stage (1 second per question) plus 5 second penalty for passing the stage.  Should there be a tie between participants a final question pertaining to the route will be asked of the competitors at the finish line of the final day of the event.  Prohibited from stopping or reversing on a stage in order to answer a question.
