Murrow Awards on his shelf, and in this session, participants will hear how he has produced consistently compelling journalism, from long form to daily deadline news. Huppert, a reporter for KARE 11 in Minneapolis, will share 10 tools that can transform any journalist from simple gatherer of facts to narrative writer. Joining Huppert in this workshop coordinated by the Southern New England Association of Black Journalists will be Jonathan Malat, Huppert’s frequent collaborator and a three-time National Press Photographers Association Photographer of the Year. Sports journalists feel that public relations teams are too protective of players and coaches, often joining interviews and cutting them short.
