The Guest Speaker for August was one of our very own members and a shining example of why Ku-ring-gai Art Society has such a wonderful reputation for excellence. Yvonne Langshaw (right) has won the KAS Grand Prize no less than four times, as well as nu- merous prestigious prizes across . In fact, she has won over 100 first-prizes since 1968. Exhibiting in solo and group shows, Yvonne regularly gives demonstrations, talks and workshops to community art groups. Her Our Next General Meeting work has been published in several magazines, Tuesday 6 September 2011 @7.30pm including Australian Artist and Artist’s Palette and is represented in both public and private Masonic Hall Turramurra Paci!c collections across Australia and overseas. Yvonne mainly paints in acrylics, sometimes with oil, watercolour and gouache but, increasingly, she is fascinated by collage. She loves the col- ours, the shapes and especially the patterns which she can achieve with mixed media. She begins with charcoal and ink and torn pieces of paper (often old artworks) and “marries” the whole piece with paint. She says she is a colour- ist at heart and loves the spontaneity of just letting things happen with varieties of shapes and colours. From the wonderful examples we saw, RED seems to be her favourite colour! Even though her paintings are abstract, Yvonne says she always tries to achieve perspective.

Yvonne loves travelling and is always happy to find new inspiration from her adventures. She is Raffle Painting ‘Early Light Tuscany’ by particularly blown away by the Kimberleys which Yvonne Langshaw Grand Prize Winer 2011 Malcolm!
