We make full use of our engineering and architectural background to design statons which are highly functonal and unique to the setng. Our designs are tailor-made solutons for the city, considering climatc and operatonal conditons.

Accessibility is always priority in the design. We incorporate the latest technology in travel informaton systems and tcketng, as we consider the correct contact interface between the user and the urban light rail soluton to be essental for the system to be efectve, safe and atractve.

In the staton design process, we will analyse the correspondence and compatbility with other local transport systems as well as the control and communicatons centre.

Our extensive experience and technical understanding of electrifcaton technologies means that the design of our light rail systems combines diferent electrifcaton solutons depending on the alignment characteristcs of the secton to be resolved.

We use our own Railway Electric Power simulaton sofware (IDOMREPS) to carry out consumpton estmaton and make the necessary calculatons for the dimensioning of the diferent electrical elements related to the electrical tracton rolling stock, tracton substatons and electrical grid connectons.

The design and integraton of overhead contact lines represents a real challenge in the urban environment. Our designs incorporate overhead electrifcaton solutons with the lowest visual impact possible.

IDOM has proven experience and extensive knowledge in the design and use of catenary-free systems and all associated technologies, as well as rolling stock suppliers.

To choose the most appropriate soluton, we conduct regeneratve and energy efciency studies. We also carry out a full analysis of the life-cycle costs related to our electrifcaton designs.

SAFETY AND SIGNALLING

Our urban light rail solutons incorporate safety systems and are designed to be highly compatble with all other modes of transport (pedestrians, cars, buses, and bicycles), as well as including priority trafc lightng for urban public transport.

We develop specifc studies based on the experience of similar operatons carried out in other cites. These studies allow us to estmate reliable travel tmes, ensuring the safe and secure operaton of the line. We carry out all studies and analysis based on the accepted internatonal norms and standards of the RAMS approach.

Other studies that we carry out include analysis of the trafc afected during the constructon and design phases (temporary

While meetng all internatonal standards and interfaces, our urban light rail telecommunicatons designs are both functonal and smart. We incorporate state of the art technologies for all the elements of the system, from public informaton visual display units to the complexity of the control centre.

Security and safety are of utmost importance, and as such, we have developed security access control, platorm door, secure communicatons, and CCTV systems. Our systems use both radio (Tetra, GSM-R …) and telephony (VoIP) communicatons technologies.

If electromechanic systems are required, these will be designed in close coordinaton with all necessary civil and architectural works in the staton.

Given the nature of IDOM as an independent company; our designs, supervision of works and testng, and commissioning are carried out while exercising complete impartality.

The preparaton of rolling stock specifcatons is a task which should be coordinated with many other actvites in the development of the light rail project as a whole, as well as involving many diferent disciplines. Therefore, it is essental to put in place the correct interface management practces from the outset.
