Welcome CAIR-MN's New Director!

We are excited to announce CAIR-MN’s new full-time Director of Fund Development and Marketing: Nausheena Hussain! We are eager to have her join the CAIR-MN team and are humbled by the sacrifices she has made to leave her corporate job to do this important work for the community

Nausheena Hussain’s most recent work has been at Best Buy Corporate as a marketing man- ager focused on developing segment marketing plans targeting the multicultural consumer. Al- though the focal point of her work was predominately the Latino customer and the Youth market, she was a driving force for diversity and inclusion efforts around the Muslim culture as well as the Muslim consumer. She launched and was the Co-chair of the Interfaith Employee Business Network chapter at Best Buy headquarters with the main goal to enhance the work environment by showcasing how faith plays a role in the employee experience, the customer experience and the communities we serve. Her most notable work was evolving the holiday messaging strategy at Best Buy to include “Happy Eid-ul-Adha,” which the American Muslim Consumer organization awarded the 2011 Multicultural Award for. In 2004, she helped found the Minnesota Youth Leadership Award, a scholarship program, and served as one of the Board of Directors. In 2009, Nausheena joined the Islamic Resource Group to educate and build bridges within the Twin Cities, Minnesota community through educational presentations on . Nausheena also helped start her husband’s business in urgent care by providing marketing expertise in driving awareness of the new business.

She graduated from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota cum laude in 2003 with her MBA and is pursuing her M.S. in Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Minnesota. Married, with two young children, she lives in Park, Minnesota.

The ability to best advocate for your Muslim clients starts with understanding their basic religious beliefs and cultural practices. This CLE will provide legal practitioners an opportunity to learn background information on Islam, become aware of common religious accommodation needs of , and dispel common misconceptions and stereotypes.

This CLE will be interactive and opportunities for questions and discussion will be empha- sized. Presented by Jeff Hassan, Esq. and Taneeza Islam, Esq., Civil Rights Director for the Council on American Islam Relations - MN, on Thursday September 8, 2011 from 10:30 -12:30 at Hamline Law School Moot Court Room.
