Official Harry Potter Buzzness. to the Muggle It To: [email protected] From: [email protected] Subject: Official Harry Potter Buzzness. To the Muggle it may concern, Greetings. I am Emily Rosu, the PR rep for the upcoming play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”. I am writing to discuss a feature on your website Buzzfeed regarding the upcoming 8th installment of the Harry Potter franchise. The play will be performed in London this upcoming summer, and will follow the world’s favorite wizard 19 years after the final battle at Hogwarts. I want Buzzfeed to be the play’s launchpad and where fans can read about the new Harry Potter chapter. I am a big fan of Buzzfeed; especially the quizzes. I admire your approach to news reporting, and the ease with which you present common problems and turn them into lists and videos that easily hit thousands of views. Our target audience’s age is 1834; a range that I saw is very frequent among Buzzfeed viewers. I have also noticed your frequent and recurring posts regarding Harry Potter; not to mention the DIY articles that are Triwizard Cup worthy. Thanks to your persistent Harry posts, you are the best and obvious medium through which “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” should be presented through first. I attached the press release and bio sheet at the end of this mail, and if needbe you can contact me for further information at [email protected] or [email protected] . Thank you for your time; I hope we can present the play to an eager fandom together. Yours magically, Emily Rosu. Contact Emily Rosu Oxford Street 5, London. Hogwarts Studios [email protected] February 29th, 2016 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE HARRY POTTER IS BACK; 19 YEARS AFTER THE LAST BATTLE. Based on the book Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by Jack Thorne, the play following Harry Potter as a Ministry of Magic employee 19 years after his last battle at Hogwarts will be presented at the London’s Palace Theatre. The play will be presented in 2 parts, and tickets will range from 30£ to 130£ . The play is set to start on July 30th 2016, one day before Harry’s birthday. J.K Rowling has also participated in writing the script for the play, along with Jack Thorne and John Tiffany. The play follows Harry Potter 19 years after the last Hogwarts battle, and portrays him dealing with his job at the Ministry of Magic, and his job as a husband and father at home. The play also focuses on Harry’s eldest son, Albus Severus Potter. The parallel between Harry and his son will be the main focus, and it shows a possible new form of darkness rising; also mentioned in the title with the “cursed” adjective describing the child. It is set in the Wizarding World, and will also have the return of beloved characters Ron and Hermione. The actors have been cast and Jamie Parker will be playing Harry; Paul Thornley as Ron; and Noma Dumezweni as Hermione. The play will fill the fandom’s longed cravings for more Harry Potter stories and adventures by giving them a taste of how what Harry’s life shaped up to be after he defeated he who must not be named. Playing in London, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is the first installment to come after the original book series, and with J.K Rowling’s blessing and collaborative input, it will live up to its expectations. The play will encompass and extend the legacy left by the beloved wizard, and give the fans a chance to experience and live the Wizarding World once again. The Harry Potter series is the bestselling book series in history, and with over 400 million copies sold, the series still has a wide spread of fans all over the world that refer to the books as “home”.

Running in London’s West End since summer 2016 and due to transfer to Broadway in 2018, Cursed Child presents an unusual case-study of what happens when an author working in other media chooses to revive their own storyworld only onstage. This makes it the ideal focus point to explore what happens when theatre and fandom collide. The play script was also published in book format, and quickly became the fastest-selling theatre script since records began.
