THE PARISH AS ONE BODY “If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? But as it is, God placed the parts, each one of them, in the body as he intended The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I do not need you,’ nor again the head to the feet, ‘I do not need you.’ Indeed, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are all the more necessary . Now you are Christ’s body, and individually parts of it. “ (1 Cor. 12:17-25)

Mary, Mother of consolation, as you stood at the cross, close to your son until the end, you remembered the harsh words of Simeon many years before: “ a sword will pierce through your own soul also.” You patiently watched for the day when the Word of God would be revealed in full glory. Yet your hope seemed to be shattered at the cruel death of your son. Help us to be ever faithful to our Lord. Teach us to join with you in proclaiming: “I am the handmaid of the Lord: let it be done to me according to your word.” Virgin most sorrowful, pray for us. Page Five MINISTRY NEWS

September 14 & 15, 2013 yVolume 5

You should have received your invitation, in the mail, to a Campaign Reception We are looking forward to your RSVP.

We look forward to seeing you on one of these dates: Wednesday morning, September 18th at 9:00am in the Parish Center, Thursday evening, September 19th at 6:30pm in the Seven Holy Founders Room, or Sunday evening, September 22nd at 6:15pm in the Parish Center. NOTE: You will not be asked to turn in a pledge at these receptions.

All registered parishioners of St. Juliana Falconieri have received an invitation to attend one of our Campaign Receptions. Please call the Parish Office at 714-879-1965 to let us know which reception you will be attending, so that we are prepared with enough seating, paperwork, refreshments...etc for each reception. Thank you!

These receptions are social and informative events that will allow Father Frank, Father Luke, Our Guidance in Giving director Kelly Storrs, and members of the Campaign Committee to present to you our plan of action for our For Christ Forever Campaign.

These receptions are a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about this historic Diocesan campaign. By attending a reception, you will be presented with information about our new Diocesan projects as well as what we plan to do in order to address our own needs here at St. Juliana Falconieri. We will have a personalized packet of information prepared for you when you arrive.

This is also a chance to take some time out of your busy schedule to meet and to communicate with each other. Please remember, you will not be asked to turn in a pledge at these receptions. Leave your wallets and purses at home, but please bring your ques- tions and concerns.

This campaign is absolutely vital for the life and growth of our parish and the Diocese of Orange. One of the most important things you can do during this campaign is to join us at a reception.

Please be sure to RSVP as soon as possible. See you this week!

Thank you to all who coordinated, served and attended our first Interfaith Religious Fair last weekend. We were blessed to have over 20 interfaith communities, and many visitors. What a joy filled day, meeting new friends and learning more about oth- er faith communities and religions.

Keynote speaker, Dr. Paul Levesque (far right) enjoys time meeting those in attendance, including members of the SIHK Council pictured here.

Thank you to all the St. Juliana Parishioners and Rosary students Page Eleven L O CA L / DIO CE S AN NE WS AND EVE NT S
