FORMATION OF RED CROSS

The famous quote by Jean Henry Dunand "by Thy Power, let there be peace, O God!" after witnessing the battle Solferino, leads to the formation of Red Cross Society. Every tree grows from a small seed likewise the Red Cross society grows like a tree in stages. Initially a International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is formed to service throughout the world to protect an assist victims of armed conflicts and strife.

INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF RED CROSS AND RED CRESCENT SOCIETIES

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is an international humanitarian organization with a unique worldwide network. Fundamental principles of the societies are:

INDIAN RED CROSS SOCIETY

The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) was established under provision of the section 8 of the IRCS Act XV of 1920 with its National Head Quarters in New Delhi. The core focus of IRCS is to promote Humanitarian Principles and Values, Disaster Management, Health and Care in Community and Blood Services

INDIAN RED CROSS SOCIETY BRANCH

IRCS, Tamil Nadu Branch was formed on 27th November 1920 with its State Head Quarters in Egmore, . Some of the activities that are carried by Tamil Nadu Branch are:

College Principal: The Principal of the College will function as a friend, philosopher, guide and facilitator, without whom YRC Units will not be able to function. Programme Officer:

Formation of the Unit, monitoring its performance, helping the Office-bearers to chalk out programmes, maintenance of records / accounts, liaison with District / Joint District Organisers / University Co- ordinator, sending activity reports to State Branch / University Co-ordinator.

College YRC Unit:

YRC Unit will be attached to the Colleges. Both male and female students can join YRC. One YRC Unit could consist of 100 Student Volunteers (50 First Year Volunteers + 50 Senior Volunteers) guided by one YRC Programme Officer who will be a faculty member (Teaching Staff).

YRC Programme Officer's Pledge:

As a Programme Officer of Youth Red Cross, I Promise to serve, to work loyally for the promotion of Health and the relief of suffering and distress, wherever I may find it and to hold in friendship youth of all Nations.

Our college YRC was started in the year 2013. From 2013 YRC is functioning successfully under the excellent guidance of our

Every year it organizes blood donation camp and other events to fulfill the moto of YRC. During 2013, first blood donation camp was organized on 25-3-2013. During 2014, second blood donation camp was organized in association with Indian Red Cross Society on 8-9-2014. A hands on training programme was organized in association with Indian Red Cross Society on 23-07-2014. Totally 233 students were underwent the First Aid training. During 2015, third blood donation camp was organized in association with Indian Red Cross Society on 14-09-2015.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME - 15-02-2018

An Orientation Programme for YRC Volunteers was organized on 15-02-2018 (Thursday) at seminar hall of our campus. Professor A. Kadar Basha, M.A., M.Phil., MBA, The Honorary Adviser, Indian Red Cross Society Tamil Nadu Branch, Egmore, Chennai-600 008, was the resource person for the programme. He addressed YRC volunteers about the history and motto of YRC moment. He also enlightened the volunteers with his experience on the roles, responsibilities and benefits of YRC. Totally fifty YRC volunteers were benefited by this programme.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP- 27.02.2018 (TUESDAY)

The Youth Red Cross Society of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology and Blood Bank, Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch, Chennai, jointly organized the fourth blood donation camp on 27.02.2018 (Tuesday) at the Jeppiaar Institute of Technology Campus. The Camp was inaugurated at 10.30 a.m. by Dr. N. Marie Wilson, The Director, Jeppiaar Institute of Technology, Chennai, who donated at first and followed by staff and students of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology. In this camp, a total of 127 donors have donated their blood voluntarily. Dr. R. Chandra, Camp Chief, Mr. K. Kalaisevan, Assistant Public Relations Officer and the team, Blood Bank, Indian Red Cross

Technology and Blood Bank, Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch, Chennai, jointly organized the fifth blood donation camp on 04-09-2018 at the Jeppiaar Institute of Technology Campus. FIRST AID TRAINING PROGRAMME - 13-10-2018

A first aid training Programme for YRC Volunteers was conducted on 13-10-2018 (Saturday) at auditorium by Youth Red Cross Society of our college. Professor R. MANICKAM, District Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Kanchipuram District & Vice Chairman, Youth Red Cross-State Committee, Tamil Nadu, was the resource person for the programme. He trained YRC and NCC volunteers for the first aid to be done for all the medical emergency situations. ONE DAY STATE LEVEL SEMINAR FOR YRC PROGRAMME OFFICERS Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch (IRCS-TNB), Kancheepuram District and Youth Red Cross Society, Jeppiaar Institute of Technology (YRC-JIT) jointly organized a “One Day District Level Seminar for YRC Programme Officers” on 24-01-2019 (Thursday) under the valuable guidance of Thiru P. In the seminar, Pulavar R. Manickam, District Secretary, IRCS, Kancheepuram District, addressed on History of Red Cross Moment. Prof. Dr. G.R. Baskaran, University YRC Coordinator, Madras University, Chennai addressed on YRC Orientation, Dr. T. Perumal, District Training Medical Officer, addressed on Plastic Free Zone Awareness, Mr. M. BLOOD DONATION CAMP The Youth Red Cross Society (YRC) & National Cadet Corps (NCC) of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology and Blood Bank, Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch, Chennai, jointly organized the sixth blood donation camp on 13-09-2019 at the Jeppiaar Institute of Technology Campus. One Day Eye Camp on 20.11.2019

The NSS unit of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology had arranged the “Eye Camp” was held on 20th November 2019 at first year block. The session was started by 10.00 am undertaken by the doctors and members of the “Dr.Agarwals Eye hospitals” Kancheepuram. Eye check-up were conducted to the Faculty member, technical, non-technical and students. Most of the non-technical and technical staffs got benefit by the eye camp. The doctors and technicians of the hospital clarify the doubts of thepatients. Totally 135 peoples were benefited through the eye camp at free of cost. The camp was successfully winded up by 4.30 pm. Everybody of those who got benefited thanked management for their service.

Aadhaar card correction camp from 17.09.2019 to 20.09.2019 Jeppiaar Institute of Technology NSS unit has provided a platform for Aadhaar card correction for students, faculties and non-teaching staffs. The camp was held at first year block on 17.09.2019 to 20.09.2019 by the staffs of Kancheepuram Head post office, Kancheepuram. NSS volunteers volunteered sincerely on all those days. The camp started by 10 am ends by 5.45 pm on each day. Changes made includes, corrections on name, address, phone number, date of birth and photo. Many of them who was struggling to change their address was done easier and it was helpful to all the students to link their phone number and e-mail address. Many of them visited the camp for correction has benefited through this. MEDICAL CAMP 08.01.2019

Jeppiaar Institute of Technology-NSS unit has organised one day general medical camp in collaboration with Dr. Mehta’s hospital global campus, VelapanChavadi, Chennai. The 23 NSS volunteers participated too and showed their cooperation for the success of this medical camp. More than 200 peoples including Faculties, Students and Non-teaching staffs (Mess and transport) were treated at the free of cost in the medical camp afterwards prescriptions for medicines were provided for the necessary condition. Special medications were provided for women’s by the gynecologist. Common benefits provided are availing details on Blood pressure, Sugar and BMI.

VISIT TO THE ORPHANAGES 12.12.2018

A visit to an Orphanage is a life-changing experience as it is filled with emotions and sentiments. We ourselves who volunteered for the visit to orphanage were lucky to get an opportunity to visit an Orphanage named St. Thomas Mount, Chennai. There we could see many children of different ages. We segregated ourselves and started talking and playing with the children. We also had cake cut on behalf of Christmas celebration and we served food to children. At that moment, we could realize that how precious was our life and we thanked God for our beautiful parents. YEAR : 2017-2018

A One day Workshop on "SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP" was conducted on 21.02.2018 (wednesday ). Guest speaker for the workshop was Mr.V.SURIYA PRAKASH and Dr.LEO AKASH RAJ. Chief guest profile was read by NSS volunteer and the guest speakers was felicitated with a shawl and momento by NSS coordinator Mr.Sasi kumar and the session was handed over to Mr.V.Suriya prakash. He gave an outline about the social entrepreneurship with the PPT presentation, that was also a motivational talk to all NSS volunteers. Next session was carried by DR.Leo Akash Raj. He gave a brief talk about social entrepreneurship along with interaction session. He divided teams and conducted a competition between NSS volunteers; to make a project on some depressed communities along with a social entrepreneurship concept. All the NSS volunteers actively participated. After lunch, every team came up with their project presentation. Every team did their best, followed by we had an inspirational talk by Dr.Leo Akash Raj.

NSS unit of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology conducted Eureka Skill Fest training programme to the volunteers associated with AID INDIA. Training was based on the evaluating the rural student basis on their skill.AID INDIA is making drastic changes in Tamilnadu rural areas. AID INDIA team explained about their work with rural students and their training to those students. They have done lot with student to improve their skills by launching various programme called “Paddipum Inikum”, ”Eurekha Education” etc. They reach the rural area with volunteers with nearby colleges. So from our college they trained us to evaluate the student based on their skills. They give us syllabus and we have to evaluate students from class 3rd -8th .This session makes our volunteers to be active in making equity in the society by guiding the rural students in proper manner to improve skills and knowledge. This training was more interactive and informative to our volunteer‟s.

The N.S.S team from Jeppiaar Institute of Technology conducted a 7day program on “The role of Youth in agriculture and Villages” from 15.02.2017 to 22.02.2017. THE BANYAN VISIT 16-12-16

NSS students of our college visited the organisation and spent a day with mentally challenged people. The organisation is only meant for mentally challenged women who all ignored by family .The home consist of mentally challenged by nature and by situation. They have in built Gym, entertainment hall, hospital. Women were treated like children. Some partially cured women in the home were started cafeteria for public infront of the home. Some of them get daily wages for doing small works inside the hospital. We served lunch for them. We spent much time in making them happy. The staff are very kind to them.We learnt lot of experience, not to ignore their will being and to join them in such foundation.we enjoyed in serving food for them.

WORKSHOP ON EMPOWERING VOLUNTEERISM 2.3.17 to 3.3.17 The empowerment of volunteerism workshop was inaugurated by Dr. samuel chelliah and Mr. Arun krishnamoorthy. Then we had a plenary session on deterioration of nature by human kind. The lecture was given by Mr. Arun krishnamoorthy, founder of environment foundation of India. His speech inspired everybody in the auditorium.Next session on workshop on documentary film making by Mr. Sibi and Mr. Bhoumik, the students of department of media and science, anna university. After that our next session on practical learning about team building simulations by Dr.s.selvam, former director, CUIC, anna university, chairman and MD, national institute of professional excellence. He conducted many games regarding team development. Then anna university students performed skit on the theme organic farming.

The Walkathan Event, celebrities and Mr.Sathya(Social activist) was gave their view about the event and Walk for Water NGO to the Media People. Then the organisers aligned the crowd for the event. The Programme begins with the introduction of RGNIYD social work which is delivered by Ms.Veronika(Head of the department).We had a brief clearance about violence against women like female infanticide, child marriage ,acid attack, rape cases.  To use and keep toilets clean and neat.  To do proper hand wash.  Not to use polythene bags.  To boil and drink water.  Using dustbins to throw the waste as bio-degradable and non-bio degradable wastes.

The day ended off with providing awareness and knowledge for the little kids about the cleanliness and the need of clean environment. DAY 2 & 3: DOOR TO DOOR VISIT

We have planned to do a door to door survey in kunnam village. We were divided in small groups of two or three and we started to make note of their basic needs. We validated with queries such as,

 How the waste was disposed?  Do they have toilet facilities?  Where the waste was segregated as degradable and biodegradable?  How the drainage system is maintained?  Do they properly maintain the rainwater harvesting system?

Based on the data collected from the villagers from every street of kunnam village analysis of survey we come to know that

 People do not have proper knowledge on waste disposal techniques  They do not have a proper drainage system in particular areas.

DAY 3 & 4: SCHOOL CLEANING

After surveying the entire village we found out an area to be cleaned inside the school , inorder to promote a clean environment inside the school we chose the above area.

We divided into groups started the cleaning process in full pledged manner and with involvement. We started off by picking the plastic papers and other waste around that area. We collected the waste and ported them into some waste area .Then we segregated the waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes.

DAY 5: DIGGING OF COMPOSITE PITS

We decided to dig composite pits in kunnam village to dispose the wastes collected to dig the composite pit were we have waste cleaned in previous day. Then we started the process with our instant group work.

We started digging the cleared area and dropped the collected biodegradable wastes into the pit then closed the composite pits with all the organic waste filled in it.

NATIONAL INTEGRATION CAMP – 2015

NIC (National Integration Camp) is special type of camp which involves the participation of all the 17 directorates. As the name suggests, National Integration Camp involve cadets from all over India. The main aim of this camp is community living. As compared to all other camps which lay emphasis on drill, PT, Weapon training, etc. The focus of NIC is on cultural activities. And if you see from my point of view, you are put to live with people from all over India. A diverse country in which more than 400 languages are spoken. You’ll get to know about the culture of every part of India.

So, this camp will teach you community living, how to adapt according to people when you meet them. Plus of course you’ll get to participate in Quizes, Skid, cultural dance events and hell lot of other activities.

Jeppiaar Institute of Technology organized the National Integration Camp (NIC) in Association with 3 [TN] BN NCC, Kanchipuram from 2 Jan 2015 to 13 Jan 2015. Around 600 cadets and 25 ANOs participated in the camp.

As part of this Cycle Expedition our cadets are telecasting Global warming And Rainwater Harvesting Documentary films through LCD projector and performing street plays and distributing pamphlets to public.

Blood Donation Camp – Feb 2018

The Youth Red Cross Society and National Cadet Corps (NCC) of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology and Blood Bank, Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch, Chennai, jointly organized the fourth blood donation camp on 27.02.2018 (Tuesday) at the Jeppiaar Institute of Technology Campus. The Camp was inaugurated at 10.30 a.m. by Dr. N. Marie Wilson, The Director, Jeppiaar Institute of Technology, Chennai, who donated at first and followed by staff and students of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology. In this camp, a total of 127 donors have donated their blood voluntarily.

MEGA POLLUTION AWARENESS PAKHWAD – 2019

Jeppiaar Institute of Technology , 1(TN) CTC NCC, Chennai organized the “Pollution Awareness Rally” to commemorate “MEGA POLLUTION AWARENESS PAKHWAD – 2019 “ on 10-07-2019 (Wednesday). The rally started from College premises to Sunguvarchatram Bazaar via Kunnam Village with Thirty One Senior Division Cadets and accompanied by Lt.M.Karthikraj, Associate NCC Officer. 73rd independence day –Aug 2019

#INDIA acquired her Independence 72 years ago and this year we are happy, proud and privileged to celebrate the 73rd Independence Day in our college campus in the presence of our beloved managing director Dr.N.Marie Wilson with faculties and students.

Blood Donation Camp – Sep 2019

Jeppiaar Institute of Technology, 1(TN) CTC NCC, Chennai organized the “BLOOD DONATION CAMP” on 13-09- 2019 in association with the blood bank, Indian Red Cross Society, Tamilnadu branch, Egmore.

The camp started at 9 am at College premises with Fifty Senior Division Cadets as the volunteers and accompanied by Lt.M.Karthikraj, Associate NCC Officer. As part of this Blood donation Camp cadets, civil peoples, college students, teaching staff and non-teaching staff, came forward to donate their blood. Over 90 people donated their blood as part of this event. Dr.N.Marie Wilson, Director, Jeppiaar Institute of Technology presided over the program and donated as well.

REPORT ON SHE-SCHOOL EVENT

DAY-1 (DATE: 26-08-2015)

Women in Engineering Affinity Group of IEEE Student Branch of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology organised - SHE an awareness program on Science, Health and Education for the students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Panapakkam, Arakkonam Tk. The targeted audience were the students (130 girls) studying in class 9. The program kick started with an Ice breaker session at 10.15 am which tested how alert the students were. This was followed by a presentation cum quiz on inspirational women in which the students actively participated and few won prizes.

A talk on self-confidence was delivered by one of our WIE volunteers. A career guidance program followed on in which different career options after class 12 was highlighted. An interactive session about health and hygiene was conducted by one of our volunteers in which the importance of balanced diet and hygienic environment was in the lime light. The event concluded with a team building activity in which the students were split into teams and their creativity was tested. Each team was given a newspaper and a chart and they have to bring out an innovative creation within half an hour. The team leaders gave a

short presentation on what they have created to the audience.

DAY-2 (DATE: 27-08-2015)

Day 2 sessions were fully focused on Science and Technology. A brief introduction starting from its history to the recent development about Robotics was given by one of our volunteers. To demonstrate it better the working models of claw robot, line follower robot, obstacle avoider robot and table -top robot were displayed and the volunteers explained the basic operations behind it.

A mini project display followed on in which Artificial Level Crossing System and Fire Alarm System were displayed. The volunteers explained its working. A talk on Sports and its importance was delivered by one of our volunteers to encourage young women in sports. The event concluded with a feedback session and a valedictory function in which the Headmistress of the school Mrs. S.NAMBICKAI MARY felicitated the winners of two day

event.

Ms. Pachipula Pranavi Programmer Analyst at Cognizant Technology, Student ambassador at Xovian start up space agency & great space enthusiastic at SDNX was consented as chief guest.

The session was started with the welcome speech and the chief guest was felicitated by a student counsellor Mrs. M. Benisha and WIE Chair Ms. L. Kanimozhi. The session was very interesting and motivating for every young budding engineer. Through this session pupils got immense knowledge about a space and other aspects that were related to space. The young engineers who were present in the wonderful session were tuned by the chief guest. The crowd that gathered in this event were interactive. The chief guest and the student mentor Mr. Selvin Pradeep Kumar encouraged the students to speak out. At the end of the session pupil were asked for a feedback by the chief guest. The Event was grandly organised by Jeppiaar Institute of Technology IEEE WIE Student Branch on 18th July ‘2016. The session started with the welcome speech by Ms. Sangeetha, and the chief guest Ms. Vishaka Khona, is felicitated by Dr.Rajesh Kumar, Head of the Department / EEE. Ms. Vishaka Khona is a User Interface Designer at TCS Center of Excellence, having passion for designing beautiful and functional user experiences. Her IEEE Journey started off being a volunteer to becoming a first women Hub Student representative in IEEE Kerala Section. She served various national and international roles such as Vice Chair of FISAT SB, Secretary of FISAT SB, Founding member and Chairman of IEEE Computer Society Student chapter, Women in Computing, Working Committee Member at IEEE CS India Council, and Student Ambassador of IEEE Computer Society.

She shared her ideas about making dreams turn into Reality and her lifetime experiences in IEEE. She encouraged second years to make use of their IEEE membership to their best such as volunteering and about Networking. Her Speech was so effective for the young budding members and was very energetic. She made us clear about creating triggers in life and to focus on our dreams come true. The event continued by the useful ways of utilizing IEEE Membership about the effective usage of social media groups and communities available for gaining more skills. She also gave a brief idea about grasshopper Scholarship. She shared a lot of tidings about Volunteering, Participation of outside Events, Networking and her own experiences in IEEE. T-SHIRT DESIGNING-2k18

The IEEE student branch of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology has organised T- shirt Designing competition, at Research and development laboratory, on the 10.01.2018 organized by the IEEE Computer Society, Jeppiaar Institute of technology. The event started with an introductory declaring the rules governing the event brought out by Nageshwari P, vice – chairman, Computer Society followed by the duration allotment by the event coordinators. The students were given various topics to prove out their artistry, namely Crisis of farmer, Women empowerment, organ and blood donations. The duration was adjusted to 2hours 30 minutes (12.00 pm to 2.30 pm). A great opportunity was provided to all the budding artists in this engineering campus. Almost there were around 55 artists which included boys as well as girls. The pride moment included boys bringing their views about women empowerment.

Finally, the duration got over around 2.30. The Chief guests were from the HOD's of the Mechanical and Computer Science Departments. The chief guests were also enthusiastic in moving all around the room surviving the talents of the artists. At last begun the duration to explain their artistry works in words. In all way the T-shirt designing event was a great success in providing a chance to prove student’s artistry. All these memories of T-shirt designing-2k18 were captured and finally ended by a photo session with volunteers and participants of the successful event. Girls Hr. Sec. School, Kanchipuram on 18.01.2018. The event started with an introductory speech by Yuvalakshmi K, WIE Chairman, Jeppiaar Institute of Technology IEEE SB. Followed by the first session was presented by Nageshwari P, Vice- Chairman, Jeppiaar Institute of Technology IEEE CS SB and Fauzhiya R on Science and Technology. The session was about the recent trends in Science and Technology. The students were given awareness on the topics of various fields of Science and Technology. Followed by the session an activity based on Science and Technology was conducted to the students and goodies were given as an encouragement. The second session on Health and Hygiene was presented by Haripriya K, Secretary, Jeppiaar Institute of Technology IEEE SB and Betty Vefelin Raj. The session helped to students how to lead a healthy and hygienic life in the present environment and also about the Sleep hygiene which helps the students to have brisk mentality throughout the day. Followed by the session an activity based on health and hygiene was conducted to know more on health and hygiene. The final session on Education was presented by Hemapriya S T. The session was about the various departments that are available and also need for education for the girl students. The session was an encouragement session to the students to further continue their studies and not confine in homes. Followed by the session an activity based on education was conducted to the students. The students were interactive throughout the session and doubts asked by the students were clarified by the volunteers. In the valedictory function the school Head Master were felicitated with a shawl and memento. As a memorable of SHE-2k18 the hand prints of the students were imprinted in a white cloth and a photo session of with volunteers and students were taken.

WIE-INNOVATE INDIA – PAINTING COMPETTITION

IEEE Student Branch – WIE affinity group has conducted Painting competition on 13.07.2017 at Research and Development cell on Jeppiaar institute of technology. This competition planned to celebrate R-10 WIE day and motivate the students to think about innovate India, Hence the following topics are given as titles, 1. Role of Women in Digital India, 2. Impact of GST in middle class family 3. Importance of educating a girl child 4. Renewable energy sources to innovate India 5. Modern agricultural methods to improve productivity in India.

15 Teams of 30 students were participated in this event actively. This painting resembles the actual reason of the topic. Student applied their creativity on the chart with lots of courage and enthusiasm. They clearly explained about the concept of their paintings. Each and every painting says the truth of concept. Some students done their creativity with lot of paper cuttings, craft works. EEE, CSE and IT department HOD’s judged the painting with the allotment of mark to concept, painting, creativity and explanation. The session ended with lots of fun and the winners will be felicitated on IEEE day Celebration.

HEALTH AND HYGIENE AWARENESS PROGRAM FOR WOMEN

Women in Engineering Affinity Group of IEEE Student Branch of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology organised a Health and Hygiene awareness program on 24th august 2017 for the women student and faculties of Jeppiaar Institute of technology. The chief guest of the event is Dr.Saswathi Tripathy Assistant Professor, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Kattankulathur Campus, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre. She has given the very good awareness about health and hygiene for women. It was a very informative session of awareness on "Breast Carcinoma ", how can we detect its symptoms by ourselves with BSE (Breast Self Examination), and how would be healthy and hygiene. She presented various slide about Self evaluation of breast cancer. Student got lot of informative awareness about their health and hygiene, students raised many of their problems and got some recommendations to get ride of the problem. The session ended with clearing the doubt of students and faculties.

The IEEE student branch of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology has organized an event “Student Professional Awareness Activity-SPAA on Entrepreneurship Development”. The event was held on 12th September,2017. The keynote speaker was Mrs. Mahalakshmi Saravanan, founder of Women Entrepreneurs, India and Kidspreneurs, India. The event was started with the felicitate of the chief guest by our respected principal mam Dr.L.Merlin Livingston. The chief guest started her speech by the detailed explanation of what a normal person required to become an entrepreneur. And spoke about how a person has to mold himself to become an entrepreneurs and shared her life experience in her business from starting day to till date. Also she talked about the various fields available for the students to groom their knowledge to become a successful person. The whole session was an interacting and having frequent Q&A session. The session was very useful to every student to know about the entrepreneur’s life from a woman entrepreneur.

The IEEE student branch of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology organised the SHE event, on January 23rd 2019 as a part of Women In Engineering Society at B.M.S Government Higher Secondary School, Little Kancheepuram-631 501. This is the flagship event conducted to school students every year. The event was conducted for IX standard students. There were nearly 250 students. The students were arranged into two section, of which one was handled by Betty Vefelin Raj and the other by Hemapriya.S.T. The session was started with talk about Science by Manju Priya.S and G.Sneha followed by science activities which were conducted by Swetha.K.J, Haritha.V, ShaluBharathi.S and Gopika.C.A. Health and Hygiene topic was explained by Kayathri.S,Sowmiya.S and Hemalatha.K and the activities were conducted by Nagarani.G and Kanimozhi.J. Sumantha.N, Benvenuto.S.P, Srilekha.A gave a complete description about education followed by activities related to education were conducted by SwathiPriya.M, Anuja S V, Nivethini, Magizhini R,Vishali AS and Ragavi.R. Motivational videos were also put on in order to motivate the students. The video was prepared by Prathipa.K, Swathika.G and Hemapriya.S.T. “IEEE – Tech Fest – 2k19”

The IEEE student branch of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology has organized the “IEEE - Tech Fest” on 5.03.2019. The event was conducted to students of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology to sport their technical skills. Six events were organised which includes CAD Design, Program Debugging, Line Follower, tech Quiz, Painting, Technical Treasure Hunt and Poster Designing. The students actively participated to the maximum of two events. The rules and the number of rounds were decided by the co-ordinators of the respective events. The selected participants for the next round were declared at the end of each round. The winners of the event were announced at the end of the event. The participants worked as an individual or team depending upon the type of the event. The participants were enthusiastic throughout the event. The events were splited up into two groups, one group at morning and the other at the afternoon to avoid confusion among the students. The winners of the event were announced and were given certificates.

One day Multi Specialty Health Camp

The IEEE student branch of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology has arranged a “One day Multi-Specialty health camp” program in association with Sri Ramachandra hospital & Alumini association of Sri Ramachandra institute of higher education and research on September 3, 2019. The session starts with pre survey about awareness of health care among students. Totally 5 specialist doctors & 20 trainers were taken over this entire camp. They explained how to take self-assessment test and first aids for different problems as we are facing present day to day life. After that they started the free physical examination by conducting various test like blood test, blood pressure checking, hemoglobin level in blood, gynecological problems, making separate database for students those who are anemic. They also provide free checkup for ECG, ortho related problems, nutrients required for daily & healthy life etc. Totally 300 students and 200 staffs (Teaching and Non-teaching) were benefited through this medical camp. Doctors provided them various consultations during the camp. The session was very interesting, interactive & useful for all students and women workers and it will helpful for them to analyse & protect them by self-test process.

“Report on webinar on Exploring IEEE SIGHT” As a part of the Know your IEEE webinar series, a webinar on the topic Exploring IEEE SIGHT was held on 5th May 2020 from 05:00 PM to 06:00 PM. A talk was delivered by Mr. Praveen Raj Masilamani, He is a Mechanical Engineer and an enthusiastic graphic designer and started his presentation by introducing himself and briefed the agenda of the webinar. He started the session with an interactive question to the participants by asking them about what engineering is, and he gave a simple definition for it too. He stated that IEEE SIGHT is a global network of IEEE volunteers partnering with underserved communities & local organizations to leverage technology for sustainable development. He also brought down the difference between IEEE SIGHT and IEEE SMART VILLAGE in a clear and deceptive manner. He also insisted every participant to form SIGHT Group in their SB with 6+ IEEE members and also gave some guidelines on how to begin to get approved for a sight Project. He described the Funding Opportunities provided for the SIGHT Projects and Conference participation support. He at last insisted every participant to apply for the SIGHT funding and competitions which is currently open now. And at last question and answer section were done with the presenter. Ms. Bharathi Ramesh. “Report on webinar on Exploring IEEE Smart Village” As a part of the Know your IEEE webinar series, a webinar on the topic Exploring IEEE Smart Village was held on 6th May 2020 from 05:00 PM to 06:00 PM. A talk was delivered by Mr. Venkatraman R who started his presentation by a quote “The soul of India lives its Villages” by Mahatma Gandhi. He made the session interactive with the question Can you dream a life without electricity? To the participants, where 938,400,000 People live in an energy-deprived environment. He then talked about problems faced by the Sirumalai where students don’t have proper electricity in schools. He portrayed the problems faced by the Sirmulai with the pictures. He also brought down the comparison of why Smart Village is so special with IEEE SIGHT already there is a clear manner. Their volunteering experience was an eye-opener for the participants. Then there was a question and answer session with their participants and the speaker gave them answers in a compromising manner. On an overview the session was so informative and interactive with above 200 participants. Thus, the speaker ended his session with a quote “Volunteers do not necessarily have the time they have the HEART”. The JIT IEEE SB conducted STUDENT LEADERSHIP FORUM (SLF’20) at Jeppiaar Institute of Technology, Chennai on 14th February 2020.

The event started with the Registration at the JIT Auditorium. After the process of Registration congress started with the Inaugural Function and the Welcome Address by Mrs.M.Benisha, Counsellor of the JIT IEEE SB and the about the event was explained by Mr.P.Vignesh, Chairman of JIT IEEE SB. The First Speaker Ms.Betty Vefelin Raj gave a talk on “What’s possible with IEEE Student Membership”. After the Networking Tea Break session, Mr.Ashvanth B took a session on “Qualities of a leader”. Next session "Career planning from a zoomed out lens" was taken by Mr. Dinesh B R. Followed by the Ice Breaking session was Conducted by JIT IEEE SLF Volunteers. After that,t session was taken over by Mr. Sivakumar Thiyagarajan about "Skills and competencies required for a successful professional career" followed by the session about “How to be an effective leader in Industrial world?" was handled by Ms. Suganya Raman followed by Networking lunch at Engineers Café.

After the lunch a Session was taken over by a Mr.Abdul Halik.M.I with the topic of Initiatives and Opportunities with IEEE YP. Followed by a topic of "IEEE Student Branch Annual Planning" will be explained by Mr.Arun. Then the last session was handled by Mr. John Benedict about "Student Awards, Competitions & Student resources in IEEE". The entrepreneurship development cell of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology has organized one day workshop on the “Entrepreneurship Awareness Program” on 09-01- 2019.The Session was started by Dr.J.S.Prabhu NLP Trainer and the consultant of NSIC.

OBJECTIVE

 To direct the student community to become the best entrepreneur and create the job for others.  To enhance knowledge and kindle the skills of the young minds aspiring to be successful entrepreneurs.  To highlight the areas and pattern to overcome the barriers of entrepreneurship in India.

About The Program

Around 172 students are exposed to different aspects of entrepreneurship, including opportunity guidance, services offered by agencies of support system etc.The current scenarios in industry and the marketing strategies required for setting up start up as a career option. About various career options and motivated the students to take maximum benefit of the growing nation by venturing in to entrepreneurship, and how to set up and registered a startup and what problems entrepreneur faced while setting up their own enterprise. The specific about this program were recognize the innate entrepreneurial competences within them, recognize and assess opportunities in the environment, understand the role that entrepreneur can play in enhancing their lives and lives of others. About The Program “A BEST IDEA NEEDS A PLATFORM TO EXPLORE”

The warm morning starts with excitement of learning information on behalf of EDC (Entrepreneurship Development Cell), JEPPIAAR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY we step ahead with a industrial visit to INCUBATION CELL of IIT-Madras (Research park) on 2/2/19(2nd Feb 2019).We were around 60 members went for the industrial visit to IIT-Madras (Research park) .The industrial visit was coordinated by Mrs.A.CHEMMALAR EDC staff coordinator and Mrs.PRIYA staff member. It was about 8.00 am we started our travel from college. During travel time went on with expectation and determination. It was about 10.00am we reached IIT-Madras (Research Park) we got flourished with the infrastructure then we settle down for the session it was about 10.30 am to start the session.

As a part of welcome Mrs. BARATHI member of INCUBATION CELL of IIT-Madras (Research Park) gave her warm address to the gathering with a brief intro about IIT-Madras (Research Park).In total we got a chance to meet three leading and successful start-ups. After the introduction and welcome address the session was hand over to DR.KAVITHA B.Tech, PhD. CEO of FIB-SOL a fertility increasing start -up .She finished her studies in BIOTECHNOLOGY in IIT Madras. She shared her pathway about the start -up and explained her product which is use in farming for increasing the yielding process without damaging the quality of the crop. She had done many researches in fertility farming and Nano membrane particles. It means a lot she had shared her experience with us the session was next lead by Mr. BALA CEO of GUVI shared his vision of solution for a problem he faced in his life which has got changed into a start up in the field of EDUCATION his Moto was to flourish college students of IT and CSE department to get well build in coding. he said that every start up is a solution for some problem in society on such problem which he found among college students was implementation on what they learnt he gave a very brief disruption about his plan ideas and pathway of his start-up that was inspiring session next at last the session was given to Mr.DINESH CEO of FAB- HEADS (carbon fibre fabrication) he was sharing the technology behind his start-up and gave a technical talk on fabrication and properties of carbon fibre fabrication and gave an techy knowledge on 3D printing and he shared a future technology on came software. He also shared his story of start-up with us which means a lot at least we came to end of the session after the session we stared thinking what kind of technology that we can use in our idea. Each and every person who have attended this visit gain a vast knowledge on future technology and an idea how to design their view on own start-up. We thank our director sir Dr.N.MARIEWILSON B.tech, M.B.A, Phd for giving us a great chance to explore our talents through this EDC and made us to go ahead in our career. We also thank all our coordinators and staff members who had made our day informative and knowledgeable.

KUZHALI20 Introduction: Jeppiaar Institute Of Technology proudly organized international women’s day with participants from various colleges and schools on January 31 and February 1, 2020 through the event of “KUZHALI’ 20” on the theme “Each for Equal” .It was organized to motivate the women community. Athmaneyam Charitable Trust

On account of pongal celebration, the pongal organising team collected fund for the NGO. We visited “Aathmaneyam Charitable Trust” at Avadi on 2nd February 2019. The pongal organising team along with the band members visited that place. The children there were very happy on our visit to their place.

2nd March, 2019

Night Shelter for Disabled Women On

On 2nd March 2019, we visited Night Shelter, a home for the disabled women at Nungambakkam. We taught them action songs, conducted few games, they actively participated in everything. Our students also performed magic and mimicry to them. We enjoyed that day with them.

Nimmathi Illam

On 14th April 2019, we visited Nimmathi Illam, an old age home at Royapettah. The grannies there received us politely to their home. We sang songs to them and we also performed a skit to them. After the general session we visited their rooms and prayed for them personally. We happened to make a visit to a day care inside the old age home. We spent some quality time with the kids there and made our return back.

Mission To The Blind

On 9th August 2019 we made our visit to the home for visually challenged people, Mission to the Blind at Perambur. Initially they gave a general introduction about their home. We then introduced ourselves and started our program. They actively participated in the games which we conducted, we sang songs to them.

14th September, 2019

Royapuram Boys Home

We visited a juvenile at Royapuram on 14th September. Sang songs to the kids there and conducted few games for them out of which moral advice was conveyed to the kids there.

29th November, 2019

Vyasarpadi- Slum visit

On 29th November 2019 we visited a slum area in Vyasarpadi. We taught songs to the kids in that area. We also shared the word of God. And celebrated pre- Christmas with the kids.
