SUMMARY

The Faculty of Nursing came into existence around the nucleus of Rufaida School of Nursing. It was established by Hakeem Abdul Hameed Saheb in 1983. It became College of Nursing in year 1994 and started Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery Programme. Jamia Hamdard became deemed to be University in year 1989. The Rufaida School of Nursing was part of Majeedia Hospital prior to the formation of the Faculty of Nursing. The purpose of establishing the school was to contribute towards overcoming shortage of nurses in the country to some extent. The other aim was to encourage girls from Muslim minority community and weaker sections of the society to take up this noble profession.

CONCLUSION

Critical analysis is a method of comparing a particular phenomenon according to the already set criteria for its functioning. The critical evaluation of the Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery program of Rufaida College of Nursing, Jamia Hamdard was a good experience for us. This helped us to understand the standards put forth by INC, for a Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery program and guided us in making an in depth study on the functioning of the bachelor’s program at Rufaida College of Nursing. The strong points of the college were the rich clinical experience they were gaining in the respective fields with the theory classes under expert guidance.
