DIRECTOR OF WALTON INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM & COORDINATOR OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENT PROGRAMS

JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: The Director of the Walton International Scholars Program (WISP), in collaboration with the directors at John Brown and Harding University, recruit, screen, and select Walton Scholars in accordance with guidelines established by the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation.

They are responsible for overseeing the WISP program on each campus and to ensure that those scholars meet the responsibilities and benefits of their scholarship as written in the WISP agreement signed each academic year by the recipients of the scholarship. The Director prepares all documents necessary for the annual report to the foundation, as well as any required documents to prepare future grants for the program. The Director will serve as the DSO to international students and will assist with all visa and immigration documents. The Director will also collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to develop on-campus programming that enhances the student experience and promotes campus-wide familiarity with diverse cultures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • The Director provides a wide variety of services associated with the admission, orientation, and ongoing support of WISP students on campus. The services include, but are not limited to, health insurance, monthly allowance, tax preparation, English language, community services, and transportation • Travel to Central America and Mexico with the directors at John Brown and Harding approximately three times per year for the purpose of recruiting Walton Scholars and to build, in partnership with the Alumni Office, a strong network in countries from which our international students come • Provide regular reports to the Director of Institutional Research and Senior Developer so that timely reports can be filed with the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation • Coordinate the community service program for Walton Scholars • Plan and administer the WISP budget • Prepare and maintain files on all current and former WISP students, such as admission and immigration documents, tax returns, and the alumni database • Support the orientation experience for international students through outreach and coordination • Serve as the international student liaison to the campus community • Assist with the I-20 and visa process for all international student • Support international student programming and events • Coordinate all study abroad opportunities for Ozarks students in collaboration with Student Affairs and Academic Affairs • Develop new study abroad opportunities defined by the Strategic Plan • Attend area meetings as requested by supervisor

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Knowledge of services, course offerings, and programs available at Ozarks • Knowledge of basic theories, principles, concepts and methodology of international admissions, recruitment, and reporting • Ability to speak and write in Spanish • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Excellent analytical and organizational skills • Demonstrated leadership and creativity in program planning

QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s Degree • Preferred knowledge of immigration forms • Preferred study abroad experience
