Volunteer Guidelines MNPS/Second Harvest Food Box Distribution Site (While Social Distancing)

§ Do not volunteer at a food distribution site if you have symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who has symptoms of COVID-19. § Wear a cloth face mask when volunteering at a food distribution site and remain six feet from others whenever possible. § Please follow all Hands On Nashville safety protocols that were presented to you upon registering for this event. § Socially Distanced Packing: Unload boxes in the site’s designated area placing only a few boxes on the table at a time (see the site coordinator for more guidance). § Sanitize table and re-stock boxes onto table after every few vehicles. Use hand sanitizer frequently and avoid touching face. § One vehicle per family will be served at a time. § Families will be instructed to stay in their vehicle to receive a food box. § A volunteer will greet families at their car from a safe distance with a clipboard to record family’s information. § Families will be instructed to open their trunk (or back door) and another volunteer should walk over to load boxes into the family’s trunk (or back seat). § A volunteer will guide cars out of distribution lane. § Volunteers may bring camping chairs to use between traffic flow and should maintain a 6-foot distance.

Specific question for individual sites should be directed to the MNPS Site Coordinator regarding specific directions for loading and unloading food. Site leads have been advised to make sure volunteers adhere to social distancing guidelines.

NOTE: In compliance with the Nashville Public Health Order #4 and Order #7, ALL volunteers must wear a protective mask while volunteering. Face masks should be worn properly, covering both mouth and nose. This, along with social distancing is the best way to prevent spread of the virus while volunteering.
