The details of CSR activities carried out in Financial Year 2012–13 are as follows:–

1. Under the “Community Education Programme”, free education is being provided to the under–privileged poor children at 13 (thirteen) nos. Literacy Centres, which are running in the slum areas/backward areas/in and around (). No. of students in these centers is around 360.

These educational centers have been provided with study materials such as pencils, blackboards, charts, books,

exercise copies etc. In addition, the Community Education Center, Kusai, Doranda , Ranchi children are provided with school uniform including sweater etc.

2. Under, the “Resource Generation Programme for Women”, Free Stitching/Embroidery Training is being provided in 9 (nine) centres) (7 in Jharkhand and 2 in eastern U.P.) which are running in slum/backward areas. 146

Balrampur) have been enrolled at these centres. Each centre is equipped with stitching machines and practice cloth/other accessories required for training have also been provided.

3. MECON is running a Vocational Training Institute (VTI) in Ranchi, Jharkhand for providing Free Vocational training to the under-privileged youths, who are not able to continue their higher studies. The institute is affiliated to Practical classes of Electrical Technicians National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), New Delhi. Presently, the institute offers five types of course viz. Radio & TV technician, Electrical technician, Welding technology, Computer Applications and Yoga.

In the current session (2013), there are a total of thirty four (34) students in different trades.

Another VTI (Electrical Trade) is being opened at Vill.–Uttaraulla, District Balrampur in U.P.

4. Under the “Community Health Program”, the followings activities were undertaken.

• Eleven (11) nos. General health/Medicine camps (In and around Ranchi & nearby villages and in district of Jharkhand) : Around 2,110 patients were covered & free medicines were distributed.

5. Following activities were undertaken under the “Programme for Differently abled Persons”

• Creation of Infrastructure (Construction of 40-bedded Hostel building) at Cheshire Home (a home for physically challenged persons), Bariatu, Ranchi (Jharkhand)

6. Infrastructure Programme for Schools/Hospitals/Cultural Centres

Following projects have been undertaken under this programme :–

• Creation of Infrastructure (Modification/renovation of ICU) at St. Barnabas Hospital, Ranchi (Jharkhand)

• Creation of Infrastructure (Providing ICU equipment) at K.C. Roy Memorial Hospital, Ranchi (Jharkhand)

• Creation of Infrastructure (Construction of 4- Classrooms) at Kissan Uchh Vidyalaya, Vill.-Kucchu, , Dist.-Ranchi (Jharkhand)

• Inauguration of “4-class rooms” at Kissan Creation of Infrastructure Ucch Vidyalaya, Kuchu, Ormanjhi, Ranchi (Construction of School) at Vaykti Vikas Kendra, Vill.-Kudri, Dist.-Khunti (Jharkhand) • Infrastructure development at Jawaharlal Nehru Kala Kendra, Ranchi.

7. Under the Programme for Left Wing Extremism (LWE) Affected Areas and other villages/areas, the following activities have been undertaken :–

 24 (Twenty four) Nos. Solar street lights in Vill.-Bar Toli, Pancha, Panchyat–Taimara, Dist.-Ranchi (Jharkhand) have been installed. (Total 131 Nos. of Solar lights have been installed so far in 4 villages)

8. Under the Afforestation & Other Welfare Programme

About 3,800 saplings of Kusum, Ber, Semilata etc. were provided to the villagers of Vill.-Pancha, Taimara, Dist.-Ranchi; Vill.-Sungi, Block-Karra, Dist.-Khunti & Vill.-Belagara, Maranghada, Dist.-Khunti of Jharkhand, for “Lac cultivation” in future.
