e. Board Education – 2014 Accountability Reporting for Community Colleges/Student Success Scorecard Cherie Davis reviewed the momentum points and completion outcomes data in the 2014 ARCC/Student Success Scorecard for Merced College. In momentum points this included the college profile, remedial cohorts for math, English and ESL, persistence rates for college prepared and unprepared for college students, achievement of at least 30 units for college prepared and unprepared for college students. In completion outcomes this included completion rates for college prepared and unprepared for college students, and career technical education degree, certificate or transfer.

Trustees commented that this is a good tool to utilize for enrollment and getting students prepared for college. It seems there is a correlation between not being prepared for college and having to stay in community college longer as well as the economy having an impact on student enrollment and completion. It will be interesting to see the data once the more aggressive student success measures and equity measures are in place.

Presented by: Joanne Schultz

For: Information ______Action X

Background Information

The Political Reform Act (Government Code Section 81000, et seq.) requires state and local government agencies to adopt and promulgate conflict-of-interest codes. Therefore, the terms of 2 California Code of Regulations Section 18730 and any amendments to it duly adopted by the FPPC are hereby incorporated by reference. This regulation and the attached Appendices, designating positions and establishing disclosure categories, shall constitute the conflict-of-interest code of the Merced Community College District (District). The proposed amendment has been reviewed by the FPPC and they are in agreement with the proposed language.

Individuals holding designated positions shall file their statements of economic interests with the District, which will make the statements available for public inspection and reproduction. (Gov. What do you see as the major issues and activities that should be considered by CCCT and the League in the next two years? (50 words or less; any portion of the statement beyond this limit will not be included.)

The most critical issue is hiring the League CEO, as change in long term leadership can be challenging. Additionally, as community colleges' roles & recognition expand, the League must continue its education policy leadership and advocacy and partner with others for the betterment of community colleges and students success.

What do you feel you can contribute in these areas? (50 words or less; any portion of the statement beyond this limit will not be included.)

For CCCT I served on CTE, ETP, and Accreditation Workshop connnittees; co-led a Conference session; wrote for Board Focus; and produced a video. State and local board experience and a career in community colleges help me contribute by asking key questions, identifying solutions, assisting in priority-setting, and making sound decisions.
