1861. DIETERICH

Württemberg existed as a county prior to 1495, and as a duchy from 1495 to 1806.[1] Its territory grew over this time, with the counts and dukes gradually displacing rival lords. This ruling family acquired Murrhardt with its filials, including Schönbronn, in 1395. Civil jurisdiction over this village was transferred to Grab in 1848.[2] The administrative history of Oberrot is more com- plicated. An estate by this name, which was distinguished from within the Roth region as early as 1367, was held of the lordship of Limpurg- by 1506. It remained in possession of that house until it expired in 1690, and then passed into lordship of Limpurg-Solms-Assenheim.[3] However, individual filals of the parish of Oberrot were often held partly by these lords and partly by Württemberg. These included Obermühle, in which one estate was held of Württem- berg prior to 1594,[4] and Marhördt, of which Limpurg had acquired parts in 1367 and 1410, and Württemberg a part in 1556.[5] Individual members of the Dieterich family in Oberrot conse- quently might have owed fealty to either lordship.

1. JörgI Dieterich, of “Obernmüelen,” believed to be Obermühle in the parish of Oberrot,[6] died before his son Jacob first married in 1594. He is known only from this record.

2. JacobH Dieterich[7] (JörgI) was born in say 1570. He lived at Schönbronn, parish of Murrhardt, Württemberg, from at least 1598 to 1615. He appears to have died before 1636, when his daugh- ter Maria was married. He first married Catharina Kübler on 29 October 1594 in the parish of , Württemberg. She was the daughter of the late Jacob Kübler of Schönbronn.[8] Evidently she was the one baptized at Murrhardt on 9 March 1578, daughter of Jacob and Maria (Reber) Kübler.[9] Burial records do not begin in Murrhardt until 1626, nor in Mainhardt until 1714, and the deaths of Catharina and her parents cannot be dated precisely. However, Catha- rina must have died before her husband, now a widower of Schönbronn, was married at Main- hardt on 25 January 1601, to Margaretha Klenck, daughter of Jörg Klenck of Hankertsmühle in that parish,[10] probably by his wife Margaretha Schupp[11] (see 7445. Klenck, 2, ii). Baptism rec-
