XI. Student feedback on institutional governs/ faculty performance

At the end of every semester, an online faculty performance appraisal is conducted by the students. This is taken into account while reviewing the performance of the faculties during the academic year. XII. Grievance redressal mechanism for faculty, staff and students.

➢ Staff: • Monthly meeting with staff & Faculty: Monthly meeting with Staff and faculty are conducted. The progress of the Institution and the future developments are discussed, and decisions taken for the improvement of the Institution. • Staff Council: The Staff council meets every month and review the welfare of the members and suggestions placed to the Management for improvement. • Staff Picnic: Every year, one day picnic is arranged by the staff members visiting nearby places. The Management also contributes for the same. ➢ Students: • Meeting with students representatives: Monthly meeting is arranged with the Students representatives and their grievances Suggestions are recorded and action initiated for the improvement.

• Peer Group: Peer Group aims instilling the qualities of co- operation, tolerance, accommodation, team spirit, rational

conscience and scale of values and competition, in the students. A staff animator will assist a group of 10 in group activities. Group discussions are held every week as part of study group activities.

• Technical Associations: We have provided opportunities to exhibit and develop the technical skills of students by the formation of Technical Associations. All the students of Sahrdaya will come under any one of the students Technical Associations, which is guided by an experienced Faculty member. Student’s activities and competitions have been arranged on the basis of Technical Associations. Every Association has an Association Secretary and a Joint secretary and other office bearers, with all respect of equal consideration for both genders. The Technical Association formed for each branch is detailed below:

It is with this noble aim that the Management is arranging Faculty Orientation programme twice in a year. Eminent personalities from outside are invited and the programme includes various teaching methods, etc. to suit the developing technologies. • Training programme for Supporting / Housekeeping & Maintenance staff: The HRD Department of our Institution will conduct training programme for all the Supporting, House keeping and maintenance staff twice in a year, to mould them to suit the requirements of the Institution and its developments. • Technical meet of Faculty: Technical meet of the faculty is conducted monthly with paper presentation and discussion.

• Daily Work Report of Faculty: All the staff members have to submit their detailed daily work report to the Head of the Institution through their Head of the Department Students: • Hand Book on Teaching Plan & Work plan: We have the practice of providing Teaching Plan and Work Plan to every student at the beginning of each semester. This handbook provides the information about the topics that will be taught in each class, and details of books to be referred for each topic etc., So that students can come prepared for attending each class. • Question Bank: Question Bank in each subject containing the previous University Questions and all the possible questions in the subject will be provided in a book form to everyone, at the beginning of semester. • Tutorials: Tutorial Classes are conducted in every subject, most effectively by dividing the class into two. This helps the students to develop skills on solving analytical questions • Project Works: Students are insisted to do one project in every semester in addition to the Curriculum insisted one. Project allowance is given to the students for the same, and best project will be awarded. Thus, every student before completing their Course will be doing minimum 7 Projects in the area of their specialization. We are also providing a financial assistance of Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five hundred) for each project • Outside Projects: Our students are permitted to do outside p r o j e c t s in connection with their specialization. • Outside Competitions: We are promoting our students to participate outside competitions in sports, arts, technical, quiz, etc. and they have bagged so many prize • Technical Seminars: All the students have to take up seminar in every semester during their course. Compulsory time is allotted in the timetable for each class. • Remedial Classes: Remedial Classes in selected subjects are being conducted for the weak students Consultancy Activities: • Placement facilities: A full time Placement Officer is appointed to co-ordinate and monitors the placement functions. The pivotal goal of his cell is to facilitate a healthy relation between the Institute and the relevant Industries, thereby ensuring placement for the maximum number of students. In addition, this cell maintains a database of various prospective employers that will help the students gain the much vital industrial exposure. Resume of all the final year students would be uploaded in the college website to ease the short listing of suitable students by various industries. • The Entrepreneurship Development Club: An Entrepreneurship Development Club has also been formed for the benefit of students. The aim of this club is to develop entrepreneurship skills of young engineers and make them job providers instead of job seekers.

Departmental Achievements: ✓ Idea Grant of Rs. 85,000/- sanctioned for “Smart Surgical Assist Project” from Kerala start-up Mission as Idea Grant in the month of November 2018, which is guided by Mr. Jibin Jose Asst. Prof. of BM Dept. ✓ Mr. Jibin Jose Asst. Prof. of BM has got sanction for a for Kerala Start- up mission, for the development of “Hastha Prosthetic Arm”, in the month of November 2018. ✓ A discussion was held between the faculty members of BM depar-tment and Mr. John, Orthopaedic surgeon and Head of Orthopaedic Society of India and Dr. Varghese, Orthopaedic surgeon of Pushpagiri Medical College on 5 July 2018 for a joint research collaboration ✓ Mr. Melvin Konikkara and Sanal (2009 Batch) interacted with the final year and pre final year students on 14 July 2018 and shared their experience as a Biomedical Engineer in hospital. They also motivated the students to take sufficient training in hospitals and work abroad in gulf countries for some time to get a good exposure and career. ✓ Future XL Short Term Training program in “Block Chain” and its applications in health care was conducted on 26 and 27 of July in Accenture Lab ✓ On 31 July 2018, Mr. Tijohn Varghese and Mr. Finu John (2013 Batch) interacted with the final year and pre final year students and shared their experiences. ✓ A One day workshop on Robotics was conducted by BM department for the final year students on 6 August 2018 in Accenture lab ✓ The inauguration of BMESI Sahrdaya chapter & technical act- ivities of EBSA (Engineering Biomedical students associa-tion) for the academic year 2018-19 was conducted on 8August 2018 in multipurpose indoor stadium at 10:00 am. Dr. Suresh K.S. from C - DIT Trivandrum delivered the keynote address. An interactive session on “Healthcare Technology Management - the National Initiatives” was arranged for BM S3, S5 & S7 students. ✓ Department of Biomedical Engineering conducted a workshop on “Mechanical Engineering in Minimally Invasive Surgical Tools” for S5 and S7 students. The session was conducted by Mr. PrakashanKaniyamparambil, CEO, Mini Surgical Equipments, who is a renowned dealer and manufacturer of minimally surgical equipments in south India. ✓ Mr.Vipin Varghese (2009 Batch) interacted with the final year and pre final year students on 14 September 2018 and shared his experience as a Biomedical Engineer in hospital. He also took a session on the job opportunities in Middle East. ✓ Biomedical Engineering association, EBSA organized a three day Workshop on Python and Embedded C under Skill Development Club on 26 September 2018.

The first phase of the training was conducted at “GE- Sahrdaya Centre of Excellence for Health Care Technolo-gies” and the second phase will be conducted at “John F Welch Technology Research Centre” of GE at Bangalore. ✓ The inauguration of Sahrdaya-Agappe innovation Hub took place on 24/11/2018 and an MOU was signed with Agappe Diagnostic company. It is with this noble aim that the Management is arranging Faculty Orientation programme twice in a year. This helps the students to develop skills on solving analytical questions • Project Works: Students are insisted to do one project in every semester in addition to the Curriculum insisted one. Project allowance is given to the students for the same, and best project will be awarded. Thus, every student before completing their Course will be doing minimum 7 Projects in the area of their specialization. Professional Activities

Faculty: ✓ Faculty Orientation Programmes: Teaching through learning and then learning through teaching is part of the continuous enrichment process for any teacher. It is with this noble aim that the Management is arranging Faculty Orientation programme twice in a year. Eminent personalities from outside are invited and the programme includes various teaching methods, etc. to suit the developing technologies ✓ Training programme for Supporting / Housekeeping & Maintenance staff: The HRD Department of our Institution will conduct training programme for all the Supporting, House keeping and maintenance staff twice in a year, to mould them to suit the requirements of the Institution and its developments. ✓ Technical meet of Faculty: Technical meet of the faculty is conducted monthly with paper presentation and discussion. ✓ Daily Work Report of Faculty: All the staff members have to submit their detailed daily work report to the Head of the Institution through their Head of the Department.

Students : ✓ Hand Book on Teaching Plan & Work plan: We have the practice of providing Teaching Plan and Work Plan to every student at the beginning of each semester. This handbook provides the information about the topics that will be taught in each class, and details of books to be referred for each topic etc., So that students can come prepared for attending each class. ✓ Question Bank: Question Bank in each subject containing the previous University Questions and all the possible questions in the subject will be provided in a book form to every one, at the beginning

of semester. ✓ Tutorials: Tutorial Classes are conducted in every subject, most effectively by dividing the class into two. This helps the students to develop skills on solving analytical questions. ✓ Project Works: Students are insisted to do one project in every semester in addition to the Curriculum insisted one. Project allowance is given to the students for the same, and best project will be awarded. Thus, every student before completing their Course will be doing minimum 7 Projects in the area of their specialization. We are also providing a financial assistance of Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five hundred) for each project. ✓ Outside Projects: Our students are permitted to do outside projects in connection with their specialization. ✓ Outside Competitions: We are promoting our students to participate outside competitions in sports, arts, technical, quiz, etc. and they have bagged so many prizes. ✓ Technical Seminars: All the students have to take up seminar in every semester during their course. Compulsory time is allotted in the timetable for each class. ✓ Remedial Classes: Remedial Classes in selected subjects are being conducted for the weak students

XV. ACADEMIC SESSIONS : As per the directions received from the University. EXAMINATION SYSTEM, YEAR/ SEM : Semester wise examination PERIOD OF DECLARATION OF RESULTS: Results are published by University. ANIMATOR & STUDY GROUP SYSTEMS: The entire student in the class is divided into small groups of ten and one faculty member is assigned to them as animator. The animator will provide counseling and guidance to the students and there will be various Programmes conducted by the study groups in the form of Group Discussion, Debate, Product Marketing, Skit, and Mock Parliament, etc.

✓ Personality Development Programme: Education means the overall development of the students in all aspects. We focus on physical, social, mental and spiritual aspects of students. Human development Programmes are planned to improve personality through dynamism and to initiate participation for personal benefit. They also aim at intellectual and emotional maturity, moral and behavioral maturity. They are dedicated to social commitment, social ethics, love towards institutions, love towards nation and manners, dignity and aristocracy of profession and responsibility, group dynamism and group work for leadership. Qualified Trainers are giving regular Training in Personality Development to the students. Classes are also being conducted in Moral Science, Health Science, and Yoga etc. under this Programme ✓ Yoga classes: To keep one’s mind serene in the highly stressed world of today, Sahrdaya offers yoga classes. These classes aim at easing the

tension of the students, bringing them inner peace and improving their concentration, general health and fitness. ✓ Moral Science: We are providing Moral science classes to students to enrich their values ✓ Health Science: Health science classes are also provided to the students to equip them for a healthy life. ✓ Coaching for Civil Service Entrance Examinations: Regular Coaching classes are being conducted for students, interested in taking up Civil Service Examinations. ✓ Coaching for competitive Examinations: Classes for the students willing to take up GATE, GRE, etc. is also being conducted. ✓ Language Classes: Spoken Language Classes are being conducted to the interested students in English / French / Germen ✓ Peer Group: Peer Group aims instilling the qualities of co- operation, tolerance, accommodation, team spirit, rational conscience and scale of values and competition, in the students. A staff animator will assist a group of 10 in group activities. Group discussions are held every week as part of study group activities.
