Please join us for an exciting Summer Camp! Our theme-based programs will include trips, special programs, learning activities, science experiments, and water play. There will be lots of hands-on fun! We look forward to seeing you this summer!

Weekly Themes

Week 1 June 24th through June 28th Theme: Travel Around the World Come take a trip with us around our amazing world! We will begin our tour by learning about famous volcanoes, and then make our own volcano. We will visit Vietnam to make fried rice, fly over to Africa to make rain sticks, and then go off to Mexico to make some wild maracas. We will also make our own real cultural family trees!

Trip: On Thursday, June27th, we will travel to Adventure in Camden, . Campers will watch in awe as in a 40-foot surround them. Picture the amazement on their faces as they come within inches of massive hippos gracefully gliding underwater. A nut-free, disposable bag lunch is required for the trip.

Week 2 July 1st through July 5th Theme: Cool Chemistry Come all you mad scientists! Grab your lab coats and join us for a week of cool chemistry experiments. We will make green potion, create snowflakes, make ice cream in a baggie and more. Who knew science could be so much fun?

Special Program: On Tuesday, July 2nd, Art Attack will present a Dr. Seuss’s Thing 1 and Thing 2 art activity. A fabulous lesson in art technique will be provided to the campers while creating a memorable keepsake!

Weeks 3 July 8th through July 12th Theme: Creative Construction When the construction whistle blows, get ready to build! Campers will explore how to build with different materials such as cardboard boxes, LEGOS, and newspaper. Make a geometric shape with pasta and marshmallows! Will it stand all by itself?

Trip: On Tuesday, July 9th, we will travel to Turtle Back in West Orange, New Jersey. The campers will have the opportunity to see many animals. Turtle Back Zoo is the perfect size for children. A nut-free, disposable bag lunch is required for the trip.

Week 4 July 15th through July 19th Theme: Young Artists Campers will become young artists this week. They will learn about famous artists and will have an opportunity to recreate the works of those learned about during the week, such as Van Gogh (Starry Night), Piet Mondrian (Abstract Art, Line, Shape and Color), and Georges Seurat (Pointillism). At the end of Young Artists week, camper art creations will be displayed in an Art Gallery in our new Annex Building to be shared with the whole school.

Special Program: On Wednesday, July 17th, Art Attack will present “Fluff and Stuff Animal Junction”. Campers will have a magical experience bringing their very own bear to life by hand stuffing it and making a wish on rainbow star.

Week 5 July 22nd through July 26th Theme: Under the Deep Blue Sea Get ready to dive into the deep blue sea! This week, we will explore the ocean and all of the things that live in it. Campers will familiarize themselves with the Water Cycle and participate in an Evaporation Experiment. We will end the week with a yummy ocean dessert with all kinds of sea creatures!

Special Program: On Wednesday, July 24th, Mad Science will present “Cosmic Space”. These are the voyages of young inquiring minds on a quest to discover Space! Their mission: to take an exciting look at planets, moons, comets, and the stars to boldly go where bright young minds love to go. (Space suits not required.) Campers will return from their mission with their own piece of the skies!

Week 6 July 29th through August 2nd Theme: Exploring Nature Campers will go on a nature adventure without even leaving ADLC! Campers will explore habitats of animals and insects. They will build a “Wormery” with live worms! They will observe the worms and discover that they dig . Campers will also talk about hermit crabs and their homes, and will create homes for them. Campers will also conduct several hands-on experiments, such as “How Quick Sand Is Made?”, “What is Sea Breeze?”, and “What Grows in Caves?”

Trip: On Thursday, August 1st we will travel to Brunswick Zone Carolier in North Brunswick. The campers will enjoy a game of bowling and a pizza lunch.

Week 7 August 5th through August 9th Theme: Discovery Week Explore all things “Ooey, Gooey, and Slimy”! Welcome to a week of some ooey, gooey, slimey science fun! You are in for some disgusting fun where we will make bouncy slime, bottle blobs, and awesome Ooey, Gooey Chocolate Fudge Brownies!

Special Program: On Thursday, August 8th, Full Effect Productions will present “The Turtle Show”. This show features a variety of live turtles and Tortoises from around the world including an Ornate Wood Turtle, Eastern Box Turtle, and a Red Footed Tortoise.

Week 8 August 12th through August 16th Theme: Space Adventures 3, 2, 1…lift off! From our atmosphere to the outer reaches of our solar system, this hands-on program sends campers on a quest for exploration. Comets, planets, stars, and more, are waiting to be discovered!

Special Program: On Tuesday, August 13th, Petals will present “Comedy Magic Show”. Besides just the magic, campers will love the comedy, silliness and funny antics that lead to the magic happening.

Week 9 August 19th through August 23rd Theme: Mighty Jungle Put on your safari hat and take a walk on the wild side as we explore what lies beneath the canopy of leaves deep within the jungle. Each day we will learn about a different jungle animal and end the week with our own jungle safari!

Trip: On Tuesday, August 20th, we will travel to Wild West City in Netcong, NJ. Campers will be immersed in the sights, sounds, smells and feel of the Old West as the knowledgeable staff recreates from days gone by. A nut-free, disposable bag lunch is required for the trip.

Week 10 August 27th through August 30th Theme: Wacky Fun Week This week will bring many surprises and you won’t know what is coming next! Wacky Fun Week will keep you guessing at what activity may be around the corner. Hawaiian theme activities, gold rush events, camping, princes and princesses, and celebrity look-a-likes are just the tip of the iceberg during this week of wacky activities.
