Bardou travel information

Participants should cross-check connections and timetables before booking and travelling.
Geography Bardou is in the South of France west of Montpellier, in the region of Languedoc (Occitanie), Département Hérault. Please do not mix up with another place also named Bardou, located east of Bordeaux.
Airports and long distance train stations The next international airports are Montpellier, Béziers and Toulouse, the next long distance train stations are Montpellier and Béziers. Train tickets, also with departure from France’ neighbouring countries, can easily be purchased on the website of the French Railway www.oui.sncf. You might find low fares if you book some weeks in advance. Before booking a flight or train ticket, be sure that you will have enough time to catch one of the following onward connections:
Onward connections Bardou is not connected to public transport. You will be picked up either from Bédarieux, which is the next local train station, or from one of the closest bus stops, these are Mons-La Trivalle or Le Poujol. From Bardou, it takes us about 15 minutes by car to be in Mons La-Trivalle and about 45 minutes to be in Bédarieux. From Montpellier: Take the long distance bus n. 682 / 685 from Montpellier directly to Mons La Trivalle. The coach station in Montpellier is called Mosson. You get there with the tramway n. 3 from the main station (this takes 20 minutes). Long distance busses depart from Mosson at 15.45 (arrival in Mons-La Trivalle at 17.33), at 16.45 (arrival in Mons at 18.45, change at Le Poujol; service not on Sundays!), the latest at 18.30 (arrival in Le Poujol at 20.05). Information on bus services can be found on the following website: www.herault-transport.fr From Béziers train station to Bédarieux train station: several connections by bus or train in the afternoon until ca. 6 pm, details on www.oui.sncf. From Toulouse: Several train connections to Béziers throughout the day. The trip to Béziers lasts between 1 1⁄2 - 2 1⁄2 hours. Conclusion: Onward connections take their time, considering also transfers from airports to main stations. Try to book early flights or trains.
By car Coming on the A7 from Montpellier, proceed on the A7 direction Béziers, and before Béziers take exit 34 to Pézenas. Follow D13 to Pézenas and Faugère, then take D909(A) to Hérepian. In Hérépian, turn left into D908 to Mons-La Trivalle.
Once arrived in Mons-La Trivalle, follow the signs to Bardou. The road up to Bardou climbs about 5km up a relatively narrow and winding road with some steep hairpin bends. Since Bardou is at the end of the road, there is normally very little traffic. If you meet a car coming in the opposite direction, there are points on the road where cars can pull over to allow others to pass. The road is perfectly doable for normal cars, but for the first time, less confident drivers might find it challenging, which is why we recommend that drivers arrive during daylight.
