Hello to all.

The March ETI board meeting was held via phone conference call on 3/16/2020. This worked out great considering the weather that day. We discussed the up coming ETI national events. We will continue on with our plans for the Convention and Spring Ride. Hopefully, the COVID-19 virus won’t be a problem months from now.

The collection of the insurance billing is going good. For those Corrals who have not paid, please send your payment. Remember, if you have to cancel insured events, please let us know so the event can be canceled with the insurance company and a refund be applied.

The COVID-19 Virus is going to be a great problem for us to say the lease, but if we work together, the problems can be overcome. This is going be hard on us, but we need to think about our young ones! With no school, no horse shows or functions, our animals are going to be important to them and help with their world being turned up side down! So hang in there...it will pass.

Stay safe, and look out for each other.

Tom

The Best Barn Hacks - Save Time and Effort At the Barn!

Put all of the pills tasks a easier. into your dosing syringe, then suction some water into the syringe. Shake and wait for your pills to dissolve in * If you are breaking in a the syringe. You can also spray the inside of your boots with water to soften the leather. I wish I had a tip for making the swampy feeling go away when you do this, but I don't.

* To create hot towels in the cooler weather for stain removal and warming up the bit, use a (supervised) crock pot with water and small dish towels. You can also use an insta-hot kettle. Hot toweling is a great way to clean your fuzzy winter horse! Also nice to add hot water to your horse's meals, or if you need to dissolve some meds into his food.

*

Hang a safety mirror in your horse’s stall and trailer if he gets nervous alone. This is also good for horses that are on stall rest or weave. This usually helps a horse generally feel better when they can see another horse. If your horse is food aggressive, hang the mirror away from his hay pile so he doesn't pick a fi ght with himself. These are also great to use in the horse trailer for shows or in your tack room, too.

* Use a lingerie bag to wash and dry your wraps. This prevents the dreaded “spaghetti” eff ect of untangling your polo wraps.

You can cut a notch out, clip off one of you to see all of your items without digging through the corners, create a zig-zag, etc. a trunk. Boldly labeled buckets also help you stay organized and prevent you from mixing a mash in the soapy tack cleaning bucket.

* During bath time, use your sweat scraper to remove excess suds and shampoo before you rinse. You will save water and time!

* Have a stash of diapers on hand at the barn! Size fi ves work well for most horses. Diapers can be great bandages for wounds, they serve as wraps for hoof poultice or packing, and can be wet and frozen for icing weird horse leg areas, like fetlocks and knees.

* Use some detangler, grooming oil, or shine product on your horse’s clean body before clipping. This helps the clippers slide through the hair and prevents some of the hair from landing all over you!

* If you have a horse that cribs or chews his water buckets, you may be able to secure a toilet seat to the top of the bucket. The width of the seat prevents most horses from being able to grasp it and crib. Painting his chewable universe with gross tasting bar soap also helps. Thanks to ProEquineGrooms.com!

* Hang a hoof pick on your https://www.proequinegrooms.com/tips/grooming/the- horse’s stall door to pick best-barn-hacks-save-time-and-eff ort his feet before you exit the stall! A pleasant sign of spring is the arrival of the 2020 foals in our local herd of wild horses. The new foal count on March 13, was three new babies. However, as of this writing, it’s very likely there are more. Due to snow and muddy conditions on the access roads, the caretaker has been limited in the area she is able to travel for an accurate count. We are expecting more snow today. Corral 118 / SVAC Horse Shows 2020 Season

As we try to negotiate the recent challenges and implications of this continuing COVID-19 crisis, we hope that everyone is following protocol, and staying home and safe.

Of course, like so many others, we must review and evaluate our scheduled events. We don’t know what changes may be necessary going forward, but appreciate your patience and support as we all struggle to do what is best for ourselves, our members and our greater community.

Also, as horse and animal owners, we are allowed and indeed, committed, to taking care of our hooved and furry family members. They rely on us for everything and deserve our best care. Use common sense and adhere to the health guidelines while at your barns and stables. Stay safe as always.

What we do as individuals has an impact on ourselves and our families, but also on many other people around us. Don’t be selfi sh. Be responsible. We are all links in the chain of humanity. Should we cancel our rides for that? We can ride six to ten feet apart.
