ORIOLES REACH AND ORIOLE ADVOCATES TO HOST 2009 CARDBOARD TO LEATHER EQUIPMENT COLLECTION

OriolesREACH and the Oriole Advocates will hold the 2009 Cardboard to Leather Collection at Oriole Park before the game on Saturday, September 19 against the Red Sox. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and volunteers will be at each entrance to accept donations of new and gently used and softball equipment.

Any equipment is appreciated, including: gloves, bats, balls, uniforms, baseball shoes, ' equipment, bases, umpires' equipment and more. Monetary donations will also be accepted.

Those contributing will receive an autographed player card. This year, equipment will be sent to Melvin Mora's Foundation in Venezuela and to the Sebaco Valley Little Leagues in Nicaragua.

Along with the collection, a Silent Auction will be held inside Gate D on the main concourse to support the collection. The Oriole Advocates will host the auction featuring memorabilia from current Orioles, including a Matt Wieters autographed baseball, a autographed jersey, and game worn and autographed batting gloves from Melvin Mora. The auction will begin when gates open and will conclude at 8:00 pm.

In a special ceremony prior to the game, Legg Mason will present the Oriole Advocate Charitable Foundation with a $7,500 contribution for the Cardboard to Leather Equipment Collection. In addition, the Baseball Tomorrow Fund will award a grant of $5,000 to the Oriole Advocate Charitable Foundation for the purchase of new equipment. The grant will be given in the name of Melvin Mora in honor of his commitment to youth baseball and softball.

In 2008, over 20,000 pieces of equipment and approximately $175,000 in monetary contributions were donated to youth

CHAD MOELLER AT CHICK-FIL-A

On Tuesday, September 15, CA CHAD MOELLER will make an appearance at the Chick-fil-A in Abingdon from noon to 1 p.m. He will greet fans and sign autographs. The event is free to attend and open to the public. The Chick-fil-A in Abingdon is located at 408 Constant Friendship Blvd.

BRIAN MATUSZ AT ESPN ZONE

On Wednesday, September 16, LHP BRIAN MATUSZ will be at the ESPN Zone at the Inner Harbor to greet fans, sign autographs and participate in a Q&A session. The event will take place from noon to 1 p.m. and is open to the public.

KAM MICKOLIO AT CHICK-FIL-A

RHP KAM MICKOLIO will make an appearance at the Chick-fil-A in Owings Mills on Saturday, September 19. He will greet fans and sign autographs from noon to 1 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The Chick-fil-A in Owings Mills is located at 10480 Owings Mills Blvd.

THE MELVIN AND GISEL MORA COMMUNITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

On Tuesday, October 6, 3B MELVIN MORA and his wife Gisel will host a charity golf tournament at Bulle Rock in Havre de Grace to benefit the Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital. The tournament will consist of a continental breakfast during registration, complimentary driving range balls, beverages and snacks provided throughout the course during play, an Awards Luncheon, prizes and much more. GAMEDAY AT ORIOLE PARK

HALOTI NGATA FIRST PITCH

On Tuesday, September 14, Ravens defensive tackle HALOTI NGATA will toss the prior to the game. Ngata is entering his fourth year with the Ravens, and coming off a season where he was named as a 1st-alternate to the Pro Bowl and a Second Team All-Pro.

MINOR LEAGUE AFFILIATES APPRECIATON NIGHT

Before their game on Wednesday, September 16, the Orioles will honor numerous members of their organization as part of Minor League Appreciation Night. Accepting awards during the pre- game ceremony will be:

The mascot of each of the Orioles’ minor league teams will also be in attendance, and between- activities will be held to help welcome all of the Orioles’ Minor League Affiliates.

CHICK-FIL-A CHECK PRESENTATION

Before the Orioles’ game on Friday, September 18 against the Boston Red Sox, Chick-fil-A will present the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation with a check as part of an on-field ceremony. The JDRF receives a donation for every Junior Orioles Dugout Club kit sold at participating Chick-fil- A locations and at the ballpark. Five dollars of every kit sold goes directly to JDRF.

YOUTH SPORTS PARADE

Local youth sports teams, coaches and players from local football, lacrosse, basketball and baseball leagues will have the opportunity to parade around the warning track at Oriole Park prior to the game on Sunday, September 20 against the Red Sox. Discounted tickets are available for groups who pre-register, which can be done by calling 888-848-BIRD.

NOAH’S PRETZELS CHECK PRESENTATION

Before the Orioles game on Sunday, September 20 against the Red Sox, Noah’s Pretzels will make a $2,500 check presentation to Pathfinders for Autism. The funds will be allocated towards increasing Autism Awareness and providing funding to support and help families currently living with Autism.

ORIOLES ALUMNI AUTOGRAPH SERIES

Each Monday and Thursday home game this season, former Orioles will sign autographs at the MASN Booth on Eutaw Street from 90 minutes to 30 minutes prior to the day’s game. Fans should visit www.orioles.com for a list of players expected to participate throughout the 2009 season.

WEAR AND WIN

The Orioles will continue to feature the popular "Wear and Win" promotion for season plan holders. Each game, the Orioles will select a fan wearing his or her official Orange Carpet “” gameday t-shirt to win a special behind-the-scenes experience. For the month of September, the lucky winners will be given a tour of the MASN pre-game set and the T.V. production truck.

ORIOLES REACH COMMUNITY BOOTH

During each home game, as part of the OriolesREACH program, the Orioles provide a community booth for charitable, non-profit organizations to distribute information, sell raffle tickets, register participants or conduct health care screenings for Orioles fans. ORIOLES REACH GAMEDAY EXPERIENCE PROGRAM

This season, OriolesREACH will again host thousands of underprivileged youth as part of the Gameday Experience Program. Group members receive game tickets, concessions vouchers, an Orioles t-shirt, a cap and transportation to and from the game. Tickets are provided courtesy of Orioles players.
