London Skolars RLFC Community Partnership Opportunity Club Background

Skolars were founded during the Centenary Season of the in 1995. Initially created for post-university graduates in London, the club quickly became open to all and reflecting the cosmopolitan nature of in the capital • In 2002 the club’s application to join the National Leagues the following year was accepted, the first club in 80 years to make the jump from the amateur ranks to the professional leagues • The club’s 1st team currently play in the League 1 competition and is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary. This is the third tier of the game and 2 divisions below • Skolars are the most successful ever Rugby League club from outside the traditional heartlands of the North with a consistent record of growth and development for 20 years • The club’s aim is to be a key part of the local community and offer sporting opportunities for all ages and standards. • The London Skolars are a progressive organisation that deliver projects across North London with a myriad of partners to make a positive impact through the delivery of Rugby League • We aim to have one of the most effective community development programmes in North London • The Skolars has sides from U7’s through to their First Team. This encompasses over 10 teams & over 250 players • The Skolars Community department is active in over 20 primary and secondary schools engaging in rugby development programs with over 1500 students • The Skolars offer inclusive rugby for disabled children through Access Sport and deliver to 100 kids per term via the Ignite Programme • Current community sponsors include Ipreo, Metro Bank, Exchange Data International, Paul Simon Homes, Harneys Westwood & Riegels Club Snapshot

• Over 10,000 spectators over the season attend Skolars games • 1st and 2nd team squads make up 70 participants • Juniors and Minis make up 200 children. Growth plans to 400+ • Primary, Secondary and College Programmes reach 1500 individuals. Growth plans to 2500+ • Our disability community programme ‘Ignite’ influences 100 children with disabilities per term. • New River Stadium and its facilities were utilised and visited by in excess of 450,000 people in 2014. £5m of redevelopment in 2015 should see significant increase in visitors.
